Former KISS Manager Bill Aucoin’s partner releases statement in regards to KISS refusal to play Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
After Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley's refusal to participate in any original KISS lineup reunion performance at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremonies this April, Bill Aucoin’s former partner, Roman Fernandez released the following statement:
“I’m going on record.
I normally stand by the sidelines quietly watching the scrimmage in silence, but now, I feel I have to speak up.
My late partner, Bill Aucoin, bothered enough in 1973 to wager his entire career as a successful television producer and bet all the money he had, as well as money he didn’t have, on 4 kids from the streets of New York. He unfortunately can no longer speak for himself on the subject of KISS and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Bill Aucoin gave KISS their start, as well as some of the best years of his life. KISS would, in fact, despite all his other successes, come to define Bill in the eyes of millions of fans and in the eyes of the industry. An industry that to a great degree didn’t give KISS the time of day when it mattered the most. No one did except for Bill, Sean Delaney and Neil (and Joyce) Bogart. All no longer with us except for Joyce. But, Bill and I spoke about this subject on several occasions before he passed. Bill Aucoin was not the type to reflect in regret, and he harbored no animosity. But he was convinced that due to politics within the board of the Hall of Fame, the day would never come that saw KISS inducted. I’m pretty certain he was OK with that.
But had Bill been alive to see the day it was announced that the group would indeed, despite every notion to the contrary, be inducted, might have been a nice parting gift for him. But it’s done. He’s gone. It could have just as easily been Paul, Gene, Peter or Ace. But they’re still here. And I’m pretty sure this is what Bill might have said in light of all this nonsense: ‘(….unintelligible noises) Look it, find a compromise, put everything aside for one night, be the larger than life rock stars you know you are, and then…. Onward and upward!’
I don’t believe Bill would begrudge any reasoning for the band members feeling however they may about one another. But, I also believe he would have recognized this as one singular night to put unresolved issues aside. Bill is no longer with us. If Paul, Gene, Peter or Ace were not here, this conversation would not even be possible. Life is too short to waste such a precious opportunity. If for no other reason, do it for Bill Aucoin. And for Sean. And for Neil. Love to all members of Kiss past and present. Onward and Upward guys.”
Over the weekend, original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley revealed on Eddie Trunk's Q104.3 radio show, that the that the original members of KISS will not be performing at the Rock N’Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony. That was followed by a statement from Peter Criss, prompted and official response by Gene and Paul, which sounds disingenuous at best.
On 'Eddie Trunk Rocks' from Friday night (Feb. 21) Frehley said, “I don’t think KISS fans are gonna be too excited and happy about the news, ’cause at this juncture, Paul (Stanley) and Gene (Simmons) have decided to perform with (current KISS members) Tommy (Thayer, guitar) and Eric (Singer, drums), and it looks like the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is going along with it.”
Ace had a lot more to say on the subject of the R&R Hall OF Fame, scheduled to take place on April 10th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Check out the full interview with Eddie Trucnk below:
Original KISS drummer Peter Criss then released his own following statement about the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame induction:
“To KISS fans,
It’s disappointing to have to say to you, the fans, that as of today, Ace and I have been denied a performance with Gene and Paul for our Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. Tickets go on sale on Monday, February 24th, and I wanted to make sure that fans understood that no original performance, in or out of makeup, has been offered to us before they purchased their tickets. This is disgraceful and I feel bad for the fans who were looking forward to the four of us being inducted together.
Peter Criss – The Catman”
This prompted the statement from KISS on the band's website:
“To All Our Fans In Regards To The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame:
Out of respect, Ace and Peter’s recent statements demand a quick response to you, our fans.
Our intention was to celebrate the entire history of KISS and give credit to all members including long time present members Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer, and additionally Bruce Kulick and Eric Carr all who have made this band what it is, regardless of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame’s point of view.
Although KISS has moved forward far longer without them, Ace and Peter are at the very foundation of what we have built and this would all be impossible had they not been a part of it in the beginning.
It is over 13 years since the original lineup has played together in make-up and we believe the memory of those times would not be enhanced. Contrary to claims made through the media we have never refused to play with Ace and Peter.
We have spent 40 years dedicated to building KISS without quitting or wavering as the band has moved forward with huge tours and platinum albums through different important lineups for forty years, to this day.
KISS has always been a band unlike any other. That is why we started KISS. That is why we continue KISS. Being unlike other bands also means making choices and decisions unlike other bands.
This is understandably an emotional situation where there is no way to please everyone.
To bring this to a quick end, we have decided not to play in any line-up and we will focus our attention on celebrating our induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
We are excited and are looking forward to seeing you all on the KISS 40th Anniversary worldwide tour.”
I know a lot of bridges were burned over the years between the guys, and I cannot claim to know the entire story between those guys, but my god, if you can't acknowledge the other two guys that were there at the beginning in a meaningful way, than that is pretty sad. Continuing to put business and dollar signs first, and music and legacy second seems to be the continued culmination and interpretation of Gene and Paul's stance. Sell some more Hello Kitty shit and Forever 21 Kiss clothing. Ace and Peter better show and get up there to accept THEIR award. Don't worry about the rest.
Today is a very sad anniversary in metal history, and one of the biggest tragedies in music history. On February 20, 2003, The Station nightclub in West Warwick, RI, burned to the ground taking with it the lives of 100 people and injuring over 200. The fire was caused when pyrotechnics were set off during a performance by Great White; the sparks ignited a flash fire that engulfed the club in 5½ minutes. It happened so amazingly fast.
The actual site located at 211 Cowesett Avenue had been the site of a makeshift memorial for more than ten years. Last September, Mr. Raymond Villanova deeded the property to the Station Fire Memorial Foundation, a registered 501c3 non-profit organization that has long been working toward the building of a permanent memorial to honor the victims and survivors of the tragic Station Nightclub fire.
In February of last year, the design plans for the Station Fire Memorial Park were unveiled to the public. May the victims rest in peace, and may the families of all affected find peace today. We are remembering all of you.
Los Angeles-based female-fronted metallers HELLION have inked a contract with London-based HNE/CHERRY RED RECORDS. The first of three HELLION albums set for release this year is a 2-disc anthology entitled TO HELLION AND BACK, which will be released on April 1, 2014, and the first 1,000 copies will be autographed by the band's singer, ANN BOLEYN.
TO HELLION AND BACK chronicles the band’s beginnings from 1982, to the present, and features new music from Hellion. In 1983, when the term “female metal singer” did not exist, HELLION’s demo recordings (released as a self-titled Mini-LP) climbed to Number 6 in England’s rock charts. In America, HELLION however was regarded by the corporate music world as “too heavy” for a band with a female singer. Despite never releasing an album on a major record label, Hellion was the first female-fronted metal band to be featured on MTV and VH-1 and was also the first U.S. metal band to perform in the former-Soviet Union on a MONSTERS OF ROCK festival.
TO HELLION AND BACK features a collection of fan-favourites, hard-to-find recordings, and previously unreleased tracks. Among the collection are also two songs that were produced by RONNIE JAMES DIO at the legendary SOUND CITY recording studio.
The musicians enlisted by powerhouse vocalist Ann Boleyn for the new HELLION include drummer Simon Wright (AC/DC, QUEENSRŸCHE, DIO, DIO DISCIPLES), keyboardist Scott Warren (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL), Swedish import bassist Bjorn Englen (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, DIO DISCIPLES), and up-and-coming lead guitarist Maxxxwell Carlisle.
HELLION’s new tracks were produced by legendary British studio icon Ken Scott, who has produced iconic albums, including DAVID BOWIE's "Hunky Dory", "The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars", "Aladdin Sane" and "Pinups". A top producer at Abbey Road Studios, Scott is also acknowledged as one of the five principal engineers for THE BEATLES. He has engineered countless classic works, including GEORGE HARRISON's "All Things Must Pass", ELTON JOHN's "Madman Across The Water", "Honky Chateau" and "Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player." Other credits include gold and platinum albums by SUPERTRAMP, DAVID BOWIE, MISSING PERSONS, KANSAS, and more. Scott recently said of the comparison between working with David Bowie and Ann Boleyn: "Working with Bowie or working with Ann of HELLION, you've got sheer talent.” Acknowledging Boleyn as the driving force propelling the band, Scott notes: "Over the years, the musicians have changed. The one musician that has always been the same is Ann. So once again, it's new musicians. The one constant thing about HELLION is Ann, and her incredible voice."
Says Wright of working with Boleyn and HELLION: "She's tried to stay true to that heaviness and a certain darkness. She's sticking to the same formula, just different musicians though."
HELLION will tour in Europe, and the UK in 2014 and are expected to appear on a number of major festivals. The cover artwork was designed by Italian artist Gaetano Di Falco and inspired by the photography of P.G. Brunelli.

Roadrunner Records recording group Black Stone Cherry has announced the release of their eagerly awaited new album, “MAGIC MOUNTAIN” which arrives everywhere on May 6th.
Produced by Joe Barresi (Queens of the Stone Age, Soundgarden), “MAGIC MOUNTAIN” will be heralded by the first single, “Me and Mary Jane,” set to impact multi-format rock radio outlets nationwide in mid-February.
Black Stone Cherry commented on the making of “MAGIC MOUNTAIN” stating, "Not since before our first album have we felt the freedom and confidence that we felt while writing and recording this album. After touring the world behind three previous albums that we are extremely proud of, we feel this album best captures the live energy, honesty and vibe that encompasses our true musicianship."
Known around the world as an electrifying live act, Black Stone Cherry will hit the road hard in support of “MAGIC MOUNTAIN,” including a string of dates supporting Seether which kick off April 22nd at The Varsity Theatre in Baton Rouge, LA. In the meantime, the Kentucky-based band will introduce the album to their many fans in the United Kingdom via a series of intimate – and already sold out – live performances dubbed “The Southern Hospitality Tour.” Set for late February/early March, the dates will see Black Stone Cherry creating each evening’s set list from a list of fan requests, guaranteeing every night’s performance will be completely unique.
Black Stone Cherry’s fourth studio album, “MAGIC MOUNTAIN” sees the band continuing to master their sound which has earned them legions of fans around the world, with sales now in excess of 650,000. In the UK, Black Stone Cherry have proven a phenomenon, topping the Rock Albums chart with both 2008’s “FOLKLORE AND SUPERSTITION” and 2011’s “BETWEEN THE DEVIL & THE DEEP BLUE SEA” receiving silver sales certification from the BPI (British Phonographic Industry).
Here at home, Black Stone Cherry are certifiable rock icons thanks to relentless touring and a long string of singles, including the top 10 Mainstream Rock smash, “In My Blood.” Furthermore, Black Stone Cherry penned a song for the one and only Lynryd Skynyrd’s most recent album and country duo Florida Georgia Line, whose version of “Stay” (originally found on “BETWEEN THE DEVIL & THE DEEP BLUE SEA”) spent four consecutive weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and is currently in Top 5.
Black Stone Cherry has spent much of its life on the road, touring alongside the likes of Chickenfoot, Nickelback, Kid Rock, Def Leppard, Alter Bridge, Motörhead, and the aforementioned Lynryd Skynyrd. Furthermore, the band has made numerous US and European festival appearances, including a recent headline slot at UK’s Download Festival.
