A 2001 documentary focusing on late Pink Floyd frontman Syd Barrett is set to be released in expanded form on May 20. The Pink Floyd & Syd Barrett Story will be available as a two-DVD set and as a digital video, and will feature bonus and extended interview footage with the band's other members.
A founding member of Pink Floyd, Barrett came up with the band's name and initially was the group's lead singer, guitarist and main songwriter. His innovative playing and quirky, imaginative songs helped establish Pink Floyd as one of the premiere psychedelic acts of its time. However, shortly after the release of the band's debut album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Barrett's erratic behavior -- likely brought on by drug abuse and mental illness -- led to his exit from the group in 1968. Barrett went on to make two solo albums, which featured contributions for his former band mates, before withdrawing entirely from public life. He remained an inspiration for, and an influence on, Pink Floyd's music throughout its history. He died in 2006 at age 60 from complications of diabetes.
Among the extras included on the updated documentary are a newly added interview with Roger Waters, as well as uncut versions of conversations with Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and the late Richard Wright. The DVD also includes a performance of the Barrett solo tune "Love You" by ex-Blur guitarist Graham Coxon.
The Pink Floyd & Syd Barrett Story lists at $17.98. Get more info and pre-order here.

Dave Mustaine of Megadeth is expanding his brand and our palate as his Mustaine Vineyards is now offering their debut Cabernet Sauvignon. Dubbed ‘Symphony Interrupted,’ the wine was made to commemorate Mustaine’s upcoming performance with the San Diego Symphony at Copley Symphony Hall on April 12.
A statement on the Mustaine Vineyards website states, “Tonight, the air is electric; tonight, the sounds are amazing; tonight, we revel in music, in art, in excellence; tonight a guitar legend marries heavy metal and classical music together in a performance only the select few will witness. Dave Mustaine often says classical IS metal, and now it is time to partake of the highlights and distinctive notes of life’s finer things. Raise a glass of our very first bottling of Mustaine Vineyards wine from the sunny hills of Fallbrook, California and lest we forget, tonight is ours forever.”

Ace Frehley announces release date for new album ‘Space Invader’ and will be a presenter at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards
Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Ace Frehley will release Space Invader, his first new solo album in five years, via Entertainment One Music (eOne Music) on June 24th. The album will include at least nine brand new original songs as well as a cover of The Steve Miller Band’s 'The Joker'. This album is the first release under Frehley's new universal deal on eOne Music.
Frehley has released an official statement surrounding the exciting news: “Life on Earth has been very good to me, and the body of work I’ve created over the years has withstood the test of time. Today I see no obstacles before me and my creativity has never been more fine tuned. Growing up in an Alien world has enhanced my senses and allowed me to succeed where others would have failed. The best is yet to come!”
Widely known as the original “Space Ace" and founding guitarist for 16 cumulative years (over two tenures) of the multi platinum selling rock band KISS, Frehley is demonstrably the most popular original member. In addition to having the best selling solo album career (vintage or current) among the original foursome, Frehley’s self titled Ace Frehley, released in 1978, went on to sell over one million copies, producing the only Top 40 single, 'New York Groove', from any of the legendary KISS solo albums; (peaking at #13). The massive hit was most recently featured in an episode of cult show Entourage and was also KISS’ second bestselling download in 2012, besting such KISS Army anthems as 'I Was Made For Lovin’ You', 'Beth' and 'Calling Dr. Love' even after 36 years.
Since departing from KISS, Frehley went on to release four more solo albums and one live EP including his most recent effort, Anomaly in 2009, which debuted at #27 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and received a welcoming response among critics.
Ace will participate in the 2014 Revolver Golden Gods Awards show by presenting the Dimebag Darrell "Best Guitarist" Award alongside label-mate Zakk Wylde. The awards show will take place on April 23 at the Club Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Tickets are on sale now.
Frehley adds: “It’s exciting to finally be part of the Golden Gods, awards and an honor to be part of any Dimebag memorial award. He was a friend, and I know everyone misses him, as do I.”
