Bruce Springsteen be honored as 2013 MusiCares Person of the Year

The Recording Academy announced that Bruce Springsteen has been selected as the 2013 MusiCares Person of the Year. Springsteen is being honored for his charitable works, his social activism and his legendary music career.
Springsteen will be presented with the honor on at an A-list gala on Friday, February 8, two days before the 55th Annual Grammy Awards takes place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. It will truly be a memorable weekend for Springsteen, as his ‘Wrecking Ball’ album is sure to be a multiple nominee.
In a statement Thursday morning, Recording Academy President Neil Portnow called Springsteen, “a truly gifted and Renaissance artist of our time, a national treasure, and an exemplary humanitarian. His career is a testament to the power of creative excellence, and his contributions as a philanthropist speak to the tenacity of the human spirit. We are privileged and honored to pay tribute to Bruce this year as our MusiCares Person of the Year.”
The MusiCares Foundation provides financial and other assistance for musicians in need.
