Glenn Hughes says upcoming Black Country Communion album may be their last, forms another supergroup called Kings of Chaos

Vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes of Black Country Communion recently told ABC News Radio that the band's third studio album, 'Afterglow' (out Oct. 30) quite possibly may be their last, but not because he doesn't want the band to continue. BCC features drummer Jason Bonham, keyboardist Derek Sherinian and guitar virtuoso Joe Bonamassa. Glenn said, "This may be the [band's] last album," he declared. "I hate to break it to you, but it just may be, because I need to be in a band that tours on a regular basis." read more...

Marshall of Rock Interview: Bassist/Producer/Engineer Billy Sherwood of Nektar talks new album, Yes connection and more

I had the pleasure to talk to the multi-talent Billy Sherwood today and it was some great conversation. Billy is a man of incredible talent, with a true and passionate love of music. A master musician, award winning producer, mixer and engineer, Billy has worked with an A to Z list of legendary rock artists in every facet of the music business. I caught up with Billy while on his way to rehearsal with legendary art rock band Nektar, as the other guys were in his rear-view mirror as we spoke. We touched on Billy's involvement with Nektar and their only 2012 gig tomorrow night (Sept. 6) at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, California. We also talked about one of his other projects, The Prog Collective, his over 20 year involvement with the band Yes, his rock production work on many rock tribute albums, including a new one for Supertramp called 'Songs of the Century: An All-Star Tribute To Supertramp'. Billy also talked about his production/engineering work with a wide range of artists, inlcuding Paul Rodgers, Dangerous Toys, and Motorhead, sharing an interesting story about recording with Lemmy at the on-set of the Los Angeles riots that you've got to hear. Add to that his take on the current state of the music industry, what created his passion for music in general and what iconic entertainment figure was his Godfather, and it makes for some interesting music conversation. Check it out below: read more...

Marshall of Rock Interview: Steve Riley of L.A. Guns

When you think of L.A. Guns, sleazy, dynamic, Hollywood rock n' roll comes to mind. Amazing albums like the first 'L.A. Guns', as well as 'Cocked & Loaded,' and 'Hollywood Vampires,' had the band all over the radio and television, as well as touring the world with the biggest bands in rock and heavy metal. The band have released their new album 'Hollywood Forever' on Cleopatra Records and with it, have made a significant and relevant rock album that lives up to all other L.A. Guns releases. I had a chance to talk with a true gentlemen of rock, L.A. Guns drummer Steve Riley about a number of topics, including the new album, getting the whole dual L.A. Guns mess behind him with Tracii Guns ending his version of the band, working with legendary producer Andy Johns, the state of the music business, the gig when he knew L.A. Guns had "made it", playing with W.A.S.P. and where he stands with the band today, meeting his idol, an epic jam session with Slash, John Entwistle and Frank DiMino from Angel as well as upcoming tour dates and a 2-DVD set. Check out the conversation below. read more...

I had a chance to chat with Pop Evil drummer Chatchi Riot earlier this week while on the way to Oklahoma City. read more...

Marshall of Rock archive interview: The Fixx 1989

With The Fixx just having released their new album 'Beautiful Friction,' which I just highlighted in a previous post, I thought it appropriate to get the first of my archive interviews up on Marshall of Rock. I had the opportunity to chat with Jamie West-Oram and Adam Woods of the band as they made a stop in San Luis Obispo, CA. for a concert at Mott Gym on the Cal Poly University campus. Listen to the 20 minute interview from March 4, 1989 below. I have a multitude of classic interviews to post, so look out for them! read more...
