Led Zep Connection: Jimmy Page feeling shunned by London Olympics, Robert Plant featured on Fats Domino Tribute album
After helping promote the 2012 London Olympics as part of the closing ceremony of the Bejing games, Jimmy Page is feeling snubbed by his home country. You may remember Page promoted London 2012 by performing ‘Whole Lotta Love’ next to a red double-decker bus.
The guitarist is, however, very “upset” that he has not been invited to attend, let alone perform at, the opening ceremony of the London Games. “Of course, I’m feeling rather hurt,” Page told the British Telegraph. “We put so much into Beijing, but weren’t helped by the Chinese giving us next-to-no practice time.”
Robert Plant will be featured on an upcoming album paying tribute to rock ‘n’ roll pioneer Fats Domino by Louisiana’s The Lil’ Band o’ Gold. Plant lends his vocal talents to ‘It Keep Raining’ and ‘I’ll Be Around’ on ‘Lil’ Band o’ Gold Plays Fats,’ which is due out on June 8th. Plant previously collaborated with The Lil’ Band o Gold on the Promised Land DVD, which featured the rock legend performing Cajun-style renditions of some Led Zeppelin tunes.
