Aerosmith and Slash kicked off their North America summer tour announcement yesterday by rocking the Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles for a six-song set that you can watch below. December 4, 1973 was the last time that Aerosmith graced the stage of the Whiskey until yesterday. Aerosmith also made separate appearance on 'Ellen' and with Ryan Seacrest on his radio show yesterday mroning in regards to the announcement.
Aerosmith took the stage at The Whisky after an intro by "Uncle Joe" Benson of 100.3 FM The Sound without guitarist Brad Whitford, who couldn't attend due to his finshing up the 'Experience Hendrix' tour. Steven Tyler then announced: "Ladies and genitals! Welcome to the Whiskey! You love this band almost as much as I do?"
Aerosmith rocked through "Draw The Line," "Same Old Song and Dance," "Pink" and "Walk This Way." Tyler brought out Slash for the final two songs alongside Perry, bassist Tom Hamilton and drummer Joey Kramer. "We’re going to bring up a friend of ours who is going to be playing on this tour. The one and only Slash!" Tyler announced to the appreciative crowd. Tyler then licked his finger, swirled it over his "Ma Kin" arm tattoo, and belted out the opening verse to "Mama Kin."
Joe Perry told the crowd at the tail end of the show: "The first time we played here was December 3, 1973. It was the first time formally here but also the first time in California. The first time west of the Mississippi was right here! That was then and this is now. And look what happened," he said as he pointed to Slash before shouting "Let’s rock!" The set then wrapped with an impressive version of 'Train Kept A Rollin.' I'm assuming we can look forward to more collaborations between Aerosmith and Slash on the tour.
"Bring it baby. Bring it! Rock and roll is forever! Come on!" Tyler shouted as he and his Aerosmith bandmates exited the stage.

The summer tour with Aerosmith and Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators will be happening, but up until now, there has been no indication when and where the tour will start. We may be getting our answer this Tuesday.
The band has teased a mysterious April 8 date on its Twitter feed with a couple of photos.
The first is a picture of the Aerosmith logo spray painted on a wall with this text: Hello, Los Angeles! #LetRockRule #AerosmithApril8 PLEASE RETWEET" LetRockRule is also the name of the upcoming tour.
The second picture is of guitarist Joe Perry and graffiti artist Rick and states: "Painting walls with guitar and graffiti legends, @JoePerry and @ogRISK. #LetRockRule #AerosmithApril8. That one just came down less than an hour ago.
It's uncertain if the April 8 date is the day that tour dates and ticket information will be available, but Aerosmith's Joey Kramer has been tweeting the hashtag #TourDateTuesday. We'll keep you posted.

Joe Perry and Steven Tyler to be honored tonight at the Hollywood Bowl, Aerosmith to release ‘Rock For The Rising Sun’ on July 23
Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry will receive a very special honor tonight as they both will be inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame at this year's Opening Night at the Bowl celebration. John Legend and gospel singer Patti Austin will both also be inducted, and past inductee Stevie Wonder will be on hand to honor Legend. After the induction, this year's new Hall of Famers will perform with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Los Angeles Philharmonic and its education programs, which reach more than 120,000 children, teachers and adults annually. Each year since 2000, the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame has paid tribute to music artists whose achievements embody the spirit of the famed L.A. venue. Other inductees include the late George Harrison, The Who's Roger Daltrey, Carlos Santana, The Beach Boys' Brian Wilson, Randy Newman, Bonnie Raitt and B.B. King.
On July 23rd, 2013, Eagle Rock Entertainment will release Rock For The Rising Sun by Aerosmith. This is a simultaneous release on DVD, Blu-ray and digital formats [Pre-book Order Date June 28th, MSRP $19.98 Blu-ray, $14.98 DVD].
This is the band’s first live video release in 9 years, since the release of You Gotta Move in 2004 and it offers a unique portrayal of life on the road with Aerosmith combined with superb live performances, as the band toured Japan. Rock For The Rising Sun features the classic tracks: Love In An Elevator, Livin’ On The Edge, Last Child, Walk This Way, Draw The Line, Sweet Emotion, Hangman Jury, and many more, with material drawn from shows throughout this tour. As bonuses, the DVD includes extra live tracks, Lick And A Promise recorded at the Hiroshima Green Garden Arena and One Way Street taken from the Tokyo Dome.
In March 2011, Japan was beset by a huge earthquake, a monstrous tsunami and the subsequent meltdown of the Fukushima nuclear plant. In the autumn of 2011, despite advice to the contrary, Aerosmith brought their Back On The Road tour to Japan, a country with which they’d always had a special relationship. The Japanese fans came out in droves and Aerosmith responded with some of the finest shows of their distinguished career. This film follows the band on that tour combining full-length live tracks with behind the scenes footage, which is at times touching and emotional and at others humorous and insightful. More than anything else it demonstrates the Japanese fans’ love affair with Aerosmith and their music.
Aerosmith are truly one of the great rock acts of all time and this incredible concert film brings together tracks from across their storied career. A live band par excellence, Rock For The Rising Sun shows them rolling up their sleeves and doing what they do better than anyone else.
