REMASTERS:

Van Halen reinvented the sound of hard rock in 1978 with its influential and wildly successful eponymous debut album and then achieved even greater success six years later with 1984. Both albums would define a generation while selling more than 10 million copies each in the U.S. alone to earn diamond-certification from the RIAA. The band recently went back to the original analog tapes and remastered both of these landmark albums – Van Halen and 1984 – which are now also set for release on March 31, 2015 through Warner Bros. Records with pre-orders through Amazon available now.

Considered one of the greatest debut albums in rock history, Van Halen took the music world by storm in 1978 with an 11-song manifesto that features some of rock radio’s most played songs of all time and scorching concert staples like “Runnin’ With The Devil,” “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love,” “Jamie’s Cryin’,” the band’s signature cover of The Kinks’ “You Really Got Me,” and Eddie Van Halen’s finger-tapping tour de force, “Eruption.” Six years and five albums later, Van Halen had become one of the biggest bands in world around the release of 1984, which includes a number of the band’s most legendary songs such as the #1 hit, “Jump,” “Panama,” and “Hot For Teacher.”

Mastering engineer Chris Bellman, who remastered the original albums for Bernie Grundman Studios, Hollywood, CA, was enlisted for these new versions. In order to produce the original sound the band intended, Bellman cut straight from the quarter-inch tapes for CD; for 180-gram vinyl; and for the digital version. Newly mastered versions of Diver Down, Women and Children First, Van Halen II and Fair Warning are also being cut for each format and will be available soon.

The front and back covers of 'Tokyo Dome Live In Concert' feature famous paintings by Adolf Mouron Cassandre. Roth is a big fan of the art deco era, and chose Cassandre's painting of the SS Normandie for the front cover, with the back cover is similar to Cassandre's painting of the French cruise-liner L'Atlantique.

Rolling Stones News: Music to be featured throughout ‘Monday Night Football’ season on ESPN, new vinyl releases out this week

Rolling Stones News: Music to be featured throughout ‘Monday Night Football’ season on ESPN, new vinyl releases out this week

ESPN will be celebrating The Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary during this year's season of Monday night football on their pregame show. "Legend to Legend" will be a unique collaboration with the Universal Music Group that will combine Monday Night Football highlights with classic tracks from thelegendary band featuring Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood.

ESPN is licensing 16 Rolling Stones tracks, spanning the early 1970's release of Exile on Main St. through the mid 2000's A Bigger Bang. The songs will be a mix of popular hits and deep cuts, including "It's Only Rock'n Roll", "Hot Stuff" and "One Hit (To the Body)". Four different songs will be selected per month and will be used for four weeks at a time on ESPN's Monday Night Countdown Pregame show (6:30 p.m. ET), on bumpers and teases within the Monday Night Football game (8:30 p.m.), and in a post-MNF game highlight segment onSportsCenter, ESPN's flagship highlights, news and information show.

"Legend to Legend" will debut Monday, Sept. 10 when ESPN kicks off the 43rd season of Monday Night Football with two games at a special time: Cincinnati Bengals vs. Baltimore Ravens (7 p.m.) and San Diego Chargers vs. Oakland Raiders (10:15 p.m.). Countdown begins at 5 p.m. The schedule continues throughout ESPN's 16-week NFL schedule, which concludes on Saturday, Dec. 22.

"Legend to Legend" elements will be identified with a branded logo and high-end animation within Monday Night Countdown and SportsCenter, highlighting "The 50 Years of the Stones" and incorporating the band's signature tongue logo.

"We're very proud that the Rolling Stones chose ESPN's Monday Night Football to play a major role in their 50th Anniversary celebration; sports and music fans alike will enjoy the combination of these two pop culture legends – the most successful prime time sports series in the history of television and the world's greatest rock and roll band to supply music for our season-long soundtrack," said Bob Toms, ESPN vice president of production enhancements, who oversees the ESPN Music department.

New York, NY (September 5, 2012)—Live shows from Muddy Waters and The Rolling Stones will get the vinyl treatment on September 11 when Eagle Rock Entertainment releases two very exciting packages: a special  Vinyl Special Edition edition 2LP/DVD/CD of Muddy Waters And The Rolling Stones Live At The Checkerboard Lounge Chicago 1981, and The Rolling Stones Some Girls: Live In Texas ‘78 2LP/DVD/CD. (Both sets were previously released in DVD/CD formats – Some Girls in November 2011, Checkerboard Lounge in July 2012.) Each set contains an 180g vinyl in a three-panel gatefold sleeve. With audio presented in DTS Dolby 5.1, these sets truly allow fans to fully experience and enjoy these brilliant artists and moments in music. [MSRP $39.98 each]

Considered by many fans to be one of The Rolling Stones greatest tours, Some Girls: Live In Texas was filmed at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas on July 18, 1978. Their stripped-down rock ‘n’ roll glory on full display, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood, Charlie Watts, and Bill Wyman perform the very songs that skyrocketed the Some Girls album to the top of the US Charts at the time of this concert. The end result steams right off the vinyl. Years later, Wood summed it up by saying, “it was straight-ahead garage rock, hardly a stage-set, no smoke, no big lights, like the Stones going punk.”

The concert presented on Live At The Checkerboard Lounge Chicago 1981 captures a moment-in-time when Jagger, Richards, Wood and Stewart paid a visit to Buddy Guy’s blues club, just prior to a three-night stint at the Rosemont Horizon. The result is one of those magical nights caught on tape and recorded for posterity. Muddy, clearly in charge, invites the Stones one-by-one to join the party. Buddy tears off some jagged lightning riffs. Junior Wells blows some mean blues harmonica. The warmth of the vinyl sound is perfect for such classic soul as this. The songs fly by in a world of honest, unpretentious love-of-the-music. Mixed and mastered by Bob Clearmountain, this concert is a rare gem of rock ‘n’ roll and blues history.

Rolling Stones News: Mick Jagger hosting SNL tonight- watch promos, ‘Live At The Checkerboard Lounge’ DVD/CD due in July

Mick Jagger hosts and performs on tonight's season finale Saturday Night Live with musical guest Foo Fighters, Jeff Beck and Arcade Fire. Should be a great episode

Jagger's hosting gig marks the close of the show's 37th season. While Mick has appeared numerous times on the show as he guest, he also has some comedy experience, including a 1985 "pathological liar" sketch with Jon Lovitz, and a 2001 "mirror" skit featuring Mick and Jimmy Fallon mimicking each other's gestures. Jagger joins cast member Kristen Wiig in these hilarious promos. This is expected to be Wiig's last SNL, as it's speculated she will be leaving the show.

Rolling Stones News: Ron Wood plays show in Atlantic City, Richard Branson and Virgin to produce movie based on 2008 book ‘Exile on Main Street: A Season in Hell’, Third in series official bootlegs released, band wants your archive footage

Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones played a rocking and rare solo concert on Saturday night (Apr. 21) at the Golden Nugget casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Ronnie's been in the New York City area of late since his new art exhibit recently opened in the Big Apple. Looks like the show was a blast! Check out the footage below.

The one-off gig came about because he's friendly with some of the people who operate the facility. Ron told the Philadelphia Inquirer, "They said, 'While you're doing your artwork, how about playing Golden Nugget?’ I [figured], why not? If I like it, maybe I’ll play [the Golden Nugget] in Vegas, too."

Wood was joined by backing longtime Stones touring keyboardist Chuck Leavell and acclaimed session drummer Steve Jordan, who is a member of Keith Richards' side project The X-pensive Winos, as well as vocalist Bernard Fowler, bassist Willie Weeks and keyboardist Andy Wallace. Great music and great vibes! Ronnie looks ready for a Stones tour!

Here's some highlights from the show:

Deadline.com has reported that The Rolling Stones and Richard Branson are teaming up again. Having released three Stones albums back in the 1990s on Virgin Records, Branson’s Virgin Produced has now acquired the rights to Robert Greenfield’s 2008 book 'Exile on Main Street: A Season in Hell with the Rolling Stones.' Unlike past looks at this time in the Stones career, this film is a drama not a documentary.

Like the book, the film will focus on the professional and personal relationship between head Stones Mick Jagger and Keith Richards as the band record their classic Exile on Main Street album in the south of France in the summer of 1971. This isn’t the only Rolling Stones film on the horizon. Brett Morgan is directing a doc on the band as part of the Stones’ 50th anniversary celebrations this year. The doc, distributed by Eagle Rock Entertainment, is out in September.

The Rolling Stones have recently released the third installment of their recently launched series of official bootlegs. L.A. Friday (Live 1975) captures the last show of a five-show engagement the British rockers played at the Los Angeles Forum in July of that year. Contrary to the title, the performance actually happened on a Sunday.

The concert took place during The Stones' Tour of the Americas, which was the band's first road trip featuring new guitarist Ronnie Wood. The band's lineup was augmented by a few other musicians, including R&B star and one-time Beatles sideman Billy Preston and longtime Stones touring pianist Ian "Stu" Stewart. Preston is featured singing lead on a pair of tunes from the L.A. Friday set.

L.A. Friday (Live 1975) is available only as a digital download -- it can be purchased exclusively in the U.S. at the Google Play website and outside of the States at StonesArchiveStore.com. Like the previous two official bootlegs, The Brussels Affair '73 and Hampton Coliseum (Live 1981), this recording was remixed by longtime Stones engineer Bob Clearmountain.

Here is the complete track list for L.A. Friday:

"Honky Tonk Women"
"All Down the Line"
"If You Can't Rock Me"/"Get Off of My Cloud"
"Star Star"
"Gimme Shelter"
"Ain't Too Proud to Beg"
"You Gotta Move"
"You Can't Always Get What You Want"
"Happy"
"Tumbling Dice"
Band intros
"It's Only Rock N Roll"
"Heartbreaker"
"Fingerprint File"
"Angie"
"Wild Horses"
"That's Life" (Billy Preston and The Rolling Stones)
"Outta Space" (Billy Preston and The Rolling Stones)

The Rolling Stones won't be touring this year on their 50th anniversary, but the rock legends still want their fans to help them celebrate the milestone. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood posted a message on RollingStone.com asking for the group's faithful followers submit "any interesting photos, videos or audio of the band or band members" they may have stored away.

"Maybe you filmed us on Super 8, stepping off the Isle of Wight ferry in 1964?" reads the note. "Or perhaps you have made a VHS recording of us hanging out backstage at MSG in 1981? Do you have a recording from our gig in Streatham in 1963?"

Fans who have any such "amazing memento" can inform The Stones about it by emailing them at memorymotel@stonesarchive.com. The band doesn't specify how the submitted material will be used.

Rolling Stones News: Mick Jagger’s new movie role, “Some Girls Live In Texas” to screen in theaters

Mick Jagger has a new movie role lined up where he'll play an international media mogul, reportedly modeled after Rupert Murdoch. The film will be called ‘Tabloid,’ and is being made through his own company, Jagged Films.

It's been reported that Josh Olson, who wrote ‘A History Of Violence,’ has been hired on to script the film that will find Jagger playing the lead role. This movie was Jagger’s idea and the storyline will also include a young journalist who gets seduced and plays into the same loss of  morality that Jagger’s character acts out.  Jagger produced other movies, including the 2008 comedy ‘The Women’ and the 2001 wartime drama ‘Enigma.’ Jagger also received producer credits on the Martin Scorsese directed Rolling Stones documentary ‘Shine A Light,’ which filmed the band’s 2006 Beacon Theatre performance during the Big Bang Tour.

Eagle Rock Entertainment recently announced the DVD and Blu-Ray release of The Rolling Stones Some Girls Live In Texas '78. Available for the first time ever on November 21st, Some Girls Live In Texas '78 features Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Ronnie Wood and Bill Wyman live in concert during the 1978 US tour which followed the release of their groundbreaking album, Some Girls.

The Rolling Stones will transport their legion of fans back to the magical summer of 1978 in The Rolling Stones: Some Girls Live In Texas, a one-night in-theater concert event on Tuesday, October 18th, at 7:30 PM (local time). This tour has never been released via broadcast, cable television or DVD before. The special event will also include an exclusive 20-minute interview with Mick Jagger filmed in August 2011 where he reflects on the fabled 1978 US tour, which is widely believed among fans to be one of the band’s greatest tours and strongest musically.

Presented by NCM Fathom, More2Screen and Eagle Rock, tickets for The Rolling Stones: Some Girls Live In Texas are available at participating theater box offices and online at FathomEvents.com.For a complete list of theater locations and prices, visit the NCM Fathom website (theaters and participants are subject to change).

“Fort Worth was an amazing night in a blistering hot July,” said Jagger. “Watching it now, the band was really intense and focused, but we were also having a blast with the fans who were really getting into the show and the new tracks from Some Girls. I think our fans will love the chance to see this concert movie for the first time on the big screen.”

The Rolling Stones: Some Girls Live From Texas will be broadcast to more than 300 theaters nationwide through NCM’s exclusive Digital Broadcast Network. Fathom and Eagle Rock also teamed up for the highly successful cinema presentation of Ladies & Gentlemen… The Rolling Stones in September 2010, which featured classic Stones performances from their 1972 tour.

“It simply doesn’t get any bigger than bringing The Rolling Stones to music fans across the country,” said Dan Diamond, senior vice president of NCM Fathom. “Well-preserved for more than 33 years, audiences will be spellbound by this incredibly rare concert footage as it flawlessly captures the band during one of its most musically riveting periods.”

Some Girls Live In Texas '78 comes hot on the heels of the huge success of 2010's Stones In Exile and Ladies & Gentlemen and marks the next stage in the Eagle Vision / Rolling Stones enterprise. Some Girls Live In Texas '78 will be available on four different formats: DVD, Blu-Ray, plus special edition DVD + CD and Blu-Ray + CD digipack presentations including a reproduction tour program. Bonus features on all formats will include a new interview with Mick Jagger.

Capturing The Rolling Stones at their live best, and fully restored to the highest level of picture and sound quality, Some Girls Live In Texas '78 was filmed at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Forth Worth, Texas on July 18th, 1978 on what many fans consider to be one of the band's greatest tours. This was due to the band's 'back to basics' approach both musically and visually, as the shows were stripped back compared to previous tours, harnessing the new punk rock attitude of the late 70s.

Showcasing many songs from the Some Girls album, celebrated for being the Rolling Stones' most direct and diverse collection of music, and which by the time the band arrived in Texas, had gone to the top of the US charts, this concert demonstrates the sheer force and raw energy of The Rolling Stones live on stage.

Originally shot on 16mm film, the concert footage has been carefully restored with the sound remixed and remastered by Bob Clearmountain from the original multi track tapes.
