The supergroup featuring Sammy Hagar, guitar wizard Joe Satriani, ex-Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith that started as a tequila-soaked jam session in Mexico and went on to sell 500,000 copies of its 2009 debut LP are back with the new track "Big Foot".
It's from the upcoming album "Chickenfoot III", produced by Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Metallica). The album will be released on September 27. The band may tour in November, but it will have to find another drummer. Chad Smith is busy with the red Hot Chili Peppers. Chickenfoot have auditioned numerous drummers, but have not made a decision on who will be pounding the skins for them on tour as of yet.

Activist rockers Rise Against are back with another Rock Pick of the Week for "Make It Stop (September's Child) from the album "Endgame". MTV has nominated Rise Against for a VMA for the Best Video With A Message. "Make It Stop (September's Children)" is an important song and video pouring water on the fire of homophobia. The video was directed by Marc Klasfed and highlights the It Gets Better Project. Stop the bullshit bullying!

Here's the new ZZ Top track "Flyin' High". ZZ Top have been working on their new album with producer Rick Rubin, and it will be released before the end of the year.
“It sounds and feels like ‘Tres Hombres,’ with a few elements of the ‘Eliminator’ period thrown in,” says Billy Gibbons. “A pretty wide range, from basic blues to slightly more fancy stuff.” ZZ Top recorded at Shangri La Studios in Malibu, California with engineer Dave Sardy (Oasis, Jet). The trio then moved back to Texas, to Foam Box Recordings in Houston, with long-time engineer Joe Hardy. "It was the Sardy and Hardy party," added Gibbons.
It's good to have ZZ Top back with a new track. It is what you would expect from the trio, and I like the sound of it. Hooking up with Rick Rubin on this project has given ZZ Top a new determination and motivation. Check it out:

Rock Picks of the Week: Black Country Communion, Jane’s Addiction (with Guitar Center Rock Walk Hall of Fame Induction), Eddie Vedder, Emphatic, Escape The Fate

A BCC tour starts in San Diego, California on June 9th and will end in Norway at the Notodden Blues Festival on August 5th . The new album is currently available for pre-order at www.bccommunion.com and the first single is the great track, "The Outsider". BCC 2 will officially be released on June 14th.
A true "supergroup" in every sense of the word, BBC are set to bring their true, pure rock song to even more of the masses in 2011-2012. Glenn Hughes, Joe Bonamassa, Jason Bonham and Derek Sherinian truly are magic together and you "feel" thir brand of rock! Feel it with "The Outsider":
In revealing the first track "End Of The Lies", from their upcoming album "The Great Escape Artist", Jane’s Addiction told Rolling Stone that the record would be a “cosmic sexual exploit” and “hypnotic.” Well, whether you think the bands new song fits that description or not, the new video for it certainly does. With silhouettes of the band rocking out and the stop-motion footage of a naked woman being painted on (courtesy of ShadowMachine Films, who also does Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken) the video really elevates the song in my opinion, not that it needed any elevation..it's a great song. "The Great Escape Artist" will hit stores this August through Capitol Records.
The album was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Rich Costey (Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Interpol), along with TV On The Radio's Dave Sitek. Sitek, best known for his production work on TV On The Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Foals, is writing, programming, and playing bass on the album. The band, with Chris Cheney on bass, will be touring throughout 2011.
Guitar Center, the world's largest musical instrument retailer, inducted Jane's Adiction into the historic Guitar Center RockWalk in Hollywood on June 1. Band members Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro and Stephen Perkins were inducted with Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello giving the induction speech.
Here's some footage of the induction, first with the band being interviewed by the great Jim Ladd on KLOS Los Angeles, followed by the actual induction of the band by Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine and the bands comments. This is good stuff! You can feel the genuine appreciation of the well-deserved band!
Jane's Addiction will be featured in a new concert taped in New Orleans on The Audience Network on Direct TV (formerly The 101). Jane's Addiction: Live Voodoo airs this Saturday June 4th at 8pm eastern, 5pm pacific.
Eddie Vedder’s new solo release, “Ukulele Songs,” was just released this past Tuesday (May 31). The disc features a collection of original material and covers performed by Vedder on ukulele.
Vedder has released a new video for the album's opening track, “Can’t Keep". The song originally appeared on Pearl Jam’s 2002 release, “Riot Act.” The video for the song captures the vibe Eddie is trying to convey and feels right.
Having recently completed a short tour of Australia, Eddie will do a month-long US tour, which kicks off June 15th in Providence, Rhode Island and wraps up on July 15th at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall. Special guest Glen Hansard (The Swell Season, The Frames) will join Vedder on the road.
We're going to be seeing alot of Eddie this fall and in 2012, as Pearl Jam will be recording a new album as well as hosting and headlining a Labor Day weekend concert celebration at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, WI on September 3rd and 4th, followed by a ten-date Canadian tour.
PBS has just announced a broadcast date for Cameron Crowe’s “Pearl Jam Twenty.” The documentary will see its broadcast premiere on Friday, October 21, 2011, 9 p.m. ET/PT on PBS, on the network’s “American Masters” series, and part of the first-ever PBS Arts Fall Festival - a multi-platform event, featuring nine programs with a range of artists and performances from around the country. Taken from more than 1,200 hours of rarely and never-before-seen footage, plus 24 hours of recently shot interview and live footage, “Pearl Jam Twenty” is the definitive portrait of Pearl Jam as told by award-winning director and music journalist Cameron Crowe.
The definition of Emphatic is "Showing or giving emphasis; expressing something forcibly and clearly". The Emphatic definitely fits that description. They hail from the heartland of Omaha, Nebraska where they were noticed and got signed to Atlantic Records. They recorded their debut album with Howard Benson (Theory Of A Deadman, 3 Days Grace, Black Stone Cherry) in June 2010. The results are an obvious success with the first single from the album "Bounce" rocking up the charts. Look for the album "Damage" on July 12th, and the band will be a part of the big "Carnival Of Madness" summer tour. The tour features Theory Of a Deadman, Alter Bridge, Black Stone Cherry and Adelitas Way. The tour kicks of August 13th in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin. Look out for Emphatic rocking all summer long!
Las Vegas rockers Escape The Fate have released another track from their self titled album, and first major label release. "Gorgeous Nightmare" is going to take the band to the next level as will being a part of this summers Uproar Festival also featuring Bullet For My Valentine, Seether, 3 Days Grace and headliners Avenged Sevenfold. Look for that rocking lineup at a city near you!
Here's a look inside the recording of "End to the Lies" from Jane's Addiction's forthcoming album, "The Great Escape Artist" available August 2011.
Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro told Spinner.com, "To me, it sounds like an updated Jane's Addiction as it has the hypnotic repetitive nature of some of our early work combined with a modern approach."
The song is from the band's first album in eight years, The Great Escape Artist, which includes songwriting and bass-playing from TV On The Radio's Dave Sitek (and may or may not include contributions from bassist Duff McKagan).
Despite the rotating bass player situation, frontman Perry Farrell said that during the recording process the band was "fully immersed in the process of making modern music. It has been a great experience thus far, and the results have so much potential."
