Sophie Simmons, Gene's 19-year-old daughter was in Oakland, CA. last week, auditioning for 'The X Factor,' where she asked for no special treatment, stating: "This isn't about my dad. This is my audition."
Sophie got her time in front of judges Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid, (and new additions) Britney Spears and Demi Lovato, but there is no news as to their reaction to the audition.
Hollywood Reporter points out however, that Sophie did show up with her co-star father on the reality series 'Gene Simmons: Family Jewels,' presumingly filming for the A&E show. Sophie apparently didn't tell her parents about the audition until the last minute, and when he learned of her plans, Gene insisted on hopping a plane from Las Vegas to provide moral support.
"We think she's the most talented, wonderful, charming daughter but we just want her to get want a fair shot," said Gene. We'll let you know if she got the fair shot and if she moved on into the second round as the news becomes available. The season premiere of 'The X Factor' is set for Sept. 12th.
Beatles News: Paul McCartney nearly hit by pop princesses car, premieres new videos starring Natalie Portman and Johnny Depp

Last night (Apr. 13) at an exclusive screening event at the Stella McCartney store in Los Angeles, Paul McCartney premiered his brand new, self directed videos for his song 'My Valentine'. The track is one of two original compositions on his new studio album 'Kisses on the Bottom', which was released in February of this year and went to Number One on the Billboard chart.
The gala premiere event hosted by Paul and Stella saw the likes of Orlando Bloom, Jordana Brewster, Julie Delpy, Zooey Deschanel, Jane Fonda, Dave Grohl and Nate Mendel of Foo Fighters, Woody Harrelson, Joan Jett, Quincy Jones, Miranda Kerr, Jason Lewis, Lykke Li, Chris Martin, Jayma Mays, Gwyneth Paltrow, Richard Perry, James Ransone, Amy Smart, Gwen Stefani and Tony Kanal of No Doubt, Kristen Stewart, Rumer Willis, Reese Witherspoon and more applauding Paul's visual interpretations of 'My Valentine' featuring Natalie Portman and Johnny Depp each translating the lyrics of the song into sign language--each giving distinctly different performances, making both videos compelling viewing. A third version combined both Natalie and Johnny's performances into one film. Watch the videos below and read the entire story here: www.paulmccartney.com
Paul's video premiere psrty went off without a hitch, but there was a chance that it would not have happened and it would have been all pop star Demi Lovato's fault. Lovato was lucky enough to meet Sir Paul, just not in the way she envisioned.
Lovato tweeted earlier this week (April 9) and revealed that she had nearly hit a pedestrian while parking her car. "So ... today I was pulling into a parking space that some guys were standing in the middle of, and almost hit them," Demi explained. "When one of the guys turned around ... it was a BEATLE ... Yes, YOU HEARD ME ... SIR PAUL McCARTNEY!!!"
Apparently, Sir Paul took the incident in stride. "He was so sweet!! Can't believe I met him today ... WOW!" Demi said. Lovato was close to being public enemy #1!
