Linkin Park rocked Los Angeles last Friday (June 29) in multiple ways. First, DJ Joe Hahn and bassist Dave "Phoenix" Farrell, and emcee Mike Shinoda threw out the first pitches at Dodger Stadium before the Los Angeles Dodgers/New York Mets game. The game was followed by their Friday night firework display, but this time to a musical soundtrack of Linkin Park music. Also that night, the band played a private X-Games concert at Club Nokia a few miles away, with Hahn wearing his Dodgers jersey. Watch the entire show, fireworks display, first pitch and interview footage below.
987FM's Kennedy (remember her from MTV?) caught up with the guys from Linkin Park at Dodger Stadium before they threw out the first pitch to talk about the new album 'Living Things' and more:
The group played a 90-minute X-Games set that included past favorites with a couple of new tracks tossed in. The band also used the gig to present their "Green Guitar Project," in which they’re using wood that had been recycled from landfills to construct the guitars they were using. Shinoda told the crowd, "We are looking at getting in the business of people sending in your guitars and we’ll fix them, and they will never, ever leave this earth!"

Linkin Park News: LP Night at Dodger Stadium, new LPTV episode, Rio+Social performance, ‘Recharge’ social game, Living Things studio listening party

As a Dodger fan, the following promotion is one of the coolest they've done in quite awhile, and quite possibly the best they've done with a hard rock connection. The Dodgers are teaming up with Linkin Park for a special ticket package. Each ticket purchase includes a ticket to the Friday, June 29th Dodger game vs. the New York Mets and a digital download of the new Linkin Park album, 'Living Things.'
Mike Shinoda will be at Dodger Stadium participating in pre-game activities, which I assume means throwing out the first pitch and connecting with fans in some respect. Every Friday night home game the Dodgers shoot off post-game fireworks and this time they will will to Linkin Park music. Linkin Park's new album comes out June 26th and fans who purchase this ticket package will get a code to redeem for the album on the day of release. Tickets can be purchased on the Dodgers website. Linkin Park have always been a leader in bringing awareness to a variety of social issues, and now have combined their love of gaming with 'Recharge.' 'Recharge' takes place in a not-too-distant future where humans have depleted all natural resources on the planet. Society and what little energy stores remain have been seized control of by machines and an elite minority. Players join cooperatively to battle their captors and recharge the world with clean, sustainable energy. Check out more:
Here's the latest LPTV episode documenting the recording of the new album. This one is titled 'Apache/Battleaxe':
Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda and Dave Farrell were recently (June 19) part of Rio+Social, one of the most important gatherings of technology, social media and global leaders in the history of South America. This global conversation, focusing on topics related to #SocialGood and how new media can help foster positive solutions to the world's biggest problems, comes at a time when the world gathered to discuss issues that affect us all at Rio+20, the UN Conference on Sustainable Development.
