Sophie Simmons, Gene's 19-year-old daughter was in Oakland, CA. last week, auditioning for 'The X Factor,' where she asked for no special treatment, stating: "This isn't about my dad. This is my audition."
Sophie got her time in front of judges Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid, (and new additions) Britney Spears and Demi Lovato, but there is no news as to their reaction to the audition.
Hollywood Reporter points out however, that Sophie did show up with her co-star father on the reality series 'Gene Simmons: Family Jewels,' presumingly filming for the A&E show. Sophie apparently didn't tell her parents about the audition until the last minute, and when he learned of her plans, Gene insisted on hopping a plane from Las Vegas to provide moral support.
"We think she's the most talented, wonderful, charming daughter but we just want her to get want a fair shot," said Gene. We'll let you know if she got the fair shot and if she moved on into the second round as the news becomes available. The season premiere of 'The X Factor' is set for Sept. 12th.

Here's a new Fox 411 report on the far reaching influence of KISS. "Kiss' song writing was really a big influence," Motley Crue bassist and songwriter Nikki Sixx told Fox 411. Mike Portnoy, former drummer of Dream Theater, even went as far as to say Kiss "were the Beatles for our generation."
Fellow '70s face-painter Alice Cooper says Kiss remain relevant today, almost four decades after Gene Simmons first unrolled that tongue onstage, because they are "a band that proves themselves over and over again".
However, despite selling over 100 million albums worldwide and accumulating 24 gold records, they have received little critical acclaim and few industry awards. Yahoo! Music reporter Billy Johnson Jr. tells FOX 411 that Kiss' over-the-top stage performances has always had some questioning their authenticity.

KISS News: Gene endorses Romney, Band slams Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, CMA Recap, walk down Hollywood Boulevard in full makeup, KISS Alive II Fan Mosaics (video)
Gene Simmons showed up on 'Fox & Friends' has came out and endorsed Mitt Romney for president. Simmons, who supported Barack Obama in 2008, says that he regrets his choice:
"Hindsight is 20/20. I have some real issues with the economy and how it's being done. America should be in business and it should be run by a businessman. Americans, smartly, and I applaud them for doing so, vote on the issues and not the party."
"America is a business. If you can't afford to do something, no matter how much bellyaching everybody does - I'm so sorry, if you can't afford it, you shouldn't do it." That and you want the tax codes to protect your millions upon millions, right Gene? I guess if a rock legend can sway your vote for President, more power to him.
