The 20th Anniversary Box set release of U2's "Achtung Baby" album will be released November 1st and U2 have a documentary due to commemorate the release. "From the Sky Down," the new U2 documentary focusing on the making their 1991 album, premiered on the opening night of the Toronto International Film Festival a couple of weeks ago and will be shown on Showtime in October, before being released on DVD in November. Watch the trailer below.
"From the Sky Down" documents what goes into the making of a U2 album, with archival footage from the band’s early days through the "Joshua Tree" album and their own movie, "Rattle and Hum.". Also included are animated sequences and contemporary interview clips showing the band returning to the Berlin studio where they recorded "Achtung Baby." Check out super cool trailer here. Can't wait to check this out.
Bono also revealed at a press conference in Toronto promoting the documentary that "Achtung Baby' will get the cover album treatment, saying: “Jack White does ‘Love Is Blindness,’ Depeche Mode do ‘So Cruel,’ Patti Smith did ‘Until the End of the World,’ Damien Rice does ‘One.’ It just goes on. And it’s strange, because when I hear the album, when U2 do it, all I hear is what’s wrong with it. But when I heard all these artists doing it, I thought, ‘It’s really good.’” The album of covers will also be available as part of the Nov. 1 box set.
Artist Damien Hirst created a new music video for "Even Better Than The Real Thing" that includes art work of bugs and burning butterflies. Cool video:

INXS have posted a new song called ‘Tiny Summer,’ and it sure does sound like Bono singing on it. Bono was a close friend of Michael Hutchence, even appearing on the late INXS singer’s solo album before his untimely death in 1997.
To add to the speculaton, INXS guitarist Andrew Farriss commented on the band’s website, “Recently at a party I met a fellow songwriter … an Irish bloke, and we sat around playing songs on acoustic guitars. Despite his funny accent, we then spent a few days songwriting and singing together … song magic was in the room again.”
Even though it seems to be Bono on the track, the U2 fansite ATU2.com reports, “We’ve contacted U2′s PR team for information … We are told by U2′s camp that it definitely is not Bono on this track.” It sure does sound like him...judge for yourself:soundcloud.com
Update (from spinner.com): INXS have announced the band's new singer is Snow Patrol and Paul McCartney collaborator Ciaran Gribbin.
"It's all so amazing and sometimes overwhelming, especially when I look up and see that my writing partner is one of the greatest songwriters of our time," Gribbin said in a statement Monday, Sept. 24 on the band's site. The Irish singer later tweeted, "I grew up with INXS and I am honored and humbled to make music with this great band."
Gribbin -- who also wrote the music for the new film 'Killing Bono' (relax, it's a comedy about Irish rockers that missed their chance to become U2) -- was confirmed after the group released a demo of new song 'Tiny Summer' last week. The demo also appeared with a handwritten note by INXS' Andrew Farriss who mentioned he met "an Irish bloke" he was playing songs with (early speculation had everyone from U2's Bono to Michael "Rea" Garvey named as the new frontman).
