New band featuring David Ellefson (Megadeth) and Frank Bello (Anthrax) to release E.P. early next year

After first writing music while traveling together during the "Metal Masters" clinics, fellow bass players Dave Ellefson of Megadeth and Frank Bello of Anthrax have now announced the formation of a new band called Altitudes & Attitude, and will will get a new release next month!

A self-titled E.P. will be released by Megaforce Records on January 14. Listen to the E.P. here

Altitudes & Attitude is:
Frank Bello on lead vocals, electric guitar, 8-string bass guitar
David Ellefson on 4-, 5- and 8-string bass guitars, rhythm guitars
Jeff Friedl (A Perfect Circle) on drums and percussion

"What started out as simple bass ideas quickly developed into some really great songs together", says Ellefson. "Our fans would probably never suspect that a couple of Metal bass players would have songs like these inside of us. It's exciting to write melody with diversity while still pushing the limits of lead-bass playing. Frank's singing, and both of us playing guitars and other instruments, gave us a whole NEW dimension for creative opportunities".

"We thought it would be cool to let fans hear something they wouldn't expect from us — which is what Altitudes & Attitude is", added Bello.

Altitudes & Attitude track listing:
1. Booze & Cigarettes
2. Tell The World
3. Here Again - featuring guest lead guitar from Gus G (Firewind, Ozzy Osbourne)

Anthrax announce replacement guitarist

LOS ANGELES, CA - Grammy-nominated rockers Anthrax - Scott Ian, Charlie Benante, Frank Bello and Joey Belladonna - have announced that Shadows Fall guitarist Jon Donais will step in for the departing Rob Caggiano. Donais will temporarily fill in for Anthrax's upcoming tour dates in India, the series of Soundwave Festival shows in Australia, and the North American Metal Alliance Tour. (dates below).

"Initially, Rob called and told me he was leaving the band, and asked if I'd be interested in filling in. Then Scott called me and everything fell into place. Rob and I are using Skype to work on solos and other guitar parts, so he's being great. ‘Hair I Go Again’…Two middle aged guys. One lifelong dream. Zero chance in hell (documentary trailer)

‘Hair I Go Again’…Two middle aged guys. One lifelong dream. Zero chance in hell (documentary trailer)

'Hair I Go Again', a new film documenting two friends who were once part of a band trying to hit it big back in 1985 and their attempt to reunite and try opening for their Heavy Metal idols on tour is slated for release early this year. Check out the three-and-a-half-minute trailer below.

Film synopsis: "The year was 1985. Thousands of miles away from the sonic debauchery of the Sunset Strip, a group of teenage friends shared aspirations of glam rock grandeur. Rising from the ashes of countless garage jams and taking a page straight out of Hit Parader, a hungry, determined band was ultimately born. Fame and fortune were well within reach, as they toured the skating rink circuit of West Central Florida, but fate intervened and the group unceremoniously imploded... probably over some chick.

"In this humorous-yet-shameless documentary, two longtime friends ultimately realize their mortality and decide to give the dream one last shot. Gone are the long hair, leopard-skin spandex and all-night parties. Only to be replaced, some twenty-five years later, by male-pattern baldness, XXL fashion and the mundane grind of 9-to-5. Their mission: reunite the band and appear as an opening act for their heavy metal idols.

"Their journey will take them cross-country as they seek out (OK, stalk) their musical heroes with the hopes of hearing the words: 'You've got the gig.'

"Countless questions remain. Will they find their long-lost bandmates (particularly the bastards that still owe them money)? Can any of them still hold a tune? And who was that skank that broke up the band in the first place?

"Failure might be their only option."

Directed by Steve McClure credits include Starz Entertainment Group, E! Entertainment Television & Sony Pictures Entertainment. Steve also wrote and produced "The Michelangelo Story", a documentary distributed nationally by Service Merchandise.

After obtaining numerous industry awards for cable television promotion, Steve co-founded Ghost-2-Eleven Entertainment with long-time high school friend, Kyle Kruger. The film was written by Kruger and McClure. As an Associate Producer with EMG, Kyle served under the tutelage of the late, 2-time Academy Award winning Producer John Daly ("Platoon", "The Last Emperor", "The Terminator", "Hoosiers"). Anthrax News: Charlie Benante marital issues, Covers E.P., Frank Bello Movie role and more

Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante and his wife had an altercation last Friday night which led to their subsequent arrests, and now the following statement has been released from Charlie Benante's lawyer, Charlie William L. Hotopp:

"Last Friday night, Charlie Benante, drummer for the rock band Anthrax, was assaulted several times during an altercation that sent him to the emergency room with a gash at the back of his head that required several staples to close.

Mr. Benante and his six-year old daughter Mia had traveled to Elkart, IN to meet Mrs. Benante and her 17-year old son who was participating in a weekend baseball series. At some point, words were exchanged between Mr. Benante, Mrs. Benante and her male companion that led to a scuffle. Mrs. Benante hit Mr. Benante in the face, he pushed her away, and as he turned around to leave with Mia, Mrs. Benante assaulted him from behind, hitting him multiple times on the back of his head with a cell phone. Police were called, and both Mr. Benante and Mrs. Benante were detained for domestic battery in front of a child.

Mr. Benante is understandably distraught by this incident and that his daughter, who he dotes on, witnessed it. Mr. Benante will appear in Elkhart County court this Friday, August 3rd, and we expect complete vindication."

Even though Scott Ian recently stated that the band aren't going to be releasing a covers album, but the band will apparently be releasing a cover E.P. at some point. At least according to Frank Bello and Joey Belladonna. Carla Harvey of the Butcher Babies and Revolver TV recently interviewed Belladonna at a recent stop of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival

Frank Bello recently said about the covers E.P.: "Actually, what we are planning on doing is doing some covers. We’re doing some cover versions of songs and re-releasing the record in the fall with some special cover songs such as a Rush track and a Boston song. It’s gonna be great. Some really cool stuff which I think people are really going to dig. And we also have a lot more touring to do; we’re going out with Motörhead in Europe in November and then we’re on the road with Testament and Death Angel."

The following cover songs have been recorded by Anthrax for possible release:
AC/DC - T.N.T.
Boston - Smokin'
Journey - Keep On Runnin'
Rush - Anthem

Anthrax have also recorded a cover version of Black Sabbath's 'Neon Knights' to be included on the upcoming Ronnie James Dio tribute album which is being assembled by the singer's widow and longtime manager Wendy Dio.

Frank Bello will also be making his feature film debut, playing the New York punk rock legend Richard Hell in the biopic 'Greetings From Tim Buckley.' Frank Wood ('Changeling' 'The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3') plays songwriter and Jeff Buckley collaborator Gary Lucas, while Penn Badgley ('Gossip Girl') has been cast as Tim Buckley's son Jeff. Dan Algrant ("People I Know", "Naked in New York") is directing from a script he co-wrote with Emma Sheanshang and David Brendel. Bello previously had small roles in a few TV and movie projects mostly as a member of Anthrax, and he also played a rocker in an episode of 'Law & Order.'

The busy Bello has also putting on bass clinics at various Sam Ash Music stores around the county coinciding with where Anthrax is making stops on tour. Check out this webisode featuring Bello at the Sam Ash in Cinncinnati with Jeff & Don:
