Ex-White Lion, Megadeth and Black Label Society bassist James Lomenzo talks about his career from Brazil (video)
The great James Lomenzo sat down with Dani Buarque of the "Lokaos Rock Show" on March 4 after the band HAIL!'s concert at Blackmore Bar in São Paulo, Brazil. Buarque does a fantastic job with the interview, which turned into a career retrospective for Lomenzo in chronological order. I didn't realize Lomenzo was in a band called 'Rondinelli' with the late Ray Gillen (Badlands, Black Sabbath) and Bobby Rondinelli, who later was in Rainbow with Ritchie Blackmore. In fact, Lomenzo talks about how he used to jam with Ritchie and Bobby pre-White Lion.
Buarque then leads Lomenzo through his stints White Lion, Pride & Glory (with his buddy Zakk Wylde), Slash's Snakepit, Black Label Society, Ozzy Osbourne, David Lee Roth, Megadeth, Lynch Mob and now in HAIL!. Lomenzo shares some really interesting stories about his time with each band and the personalities involved. The humble and appreciative Lomenzo shows just how cool he is in this interview, and I had to share it. He certainly has had an interesting and varied career in rock. Kudos to the beautiful Dani Buarque.
HAIL! is an all star band featuring vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens (Yngwie Malmsteen, Judas Priest, Iced Earth, Beyond Fear), guitarist Andreas Kisser (Sepultura) and drummer Paul Bostaph (Testament, Slayer, Exodus, Forbidden).
There has been different lineups of HAIL!; including one featuring Owens, Bostaph, Lomenzo and guitarist Glen Drover (Megadeth, King Diamond), who completed a tour of China and Taiwan in December.
HAIL! is planning to release a DVD that will capture the band's entire history and spotlight all of its live shows and special guests and contain exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from its travels, rehearsals, soundchecks, interviews, meet-and-greets.
Here's the interview and some great fan-shot footage of the show, with almost the entire set:

The song has that powerful vocal that we can always expect from Bach, with solid musicianship and production. It's a great lead track as the first release from what I expect is an album full of great rock.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd just released his new album of blues rock called "How I Go". This album is another great addition to that blues rock that fans expect from Kenny. The first track "Never Lookin' Back" is quality rock, with an impressive guitar solo and the solid growling vocal of Noah Hunt. Besides Noah, Kenny has an incredible band together, including Chris Layton on drums (Stevie Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble/Arc Angels/Storyville), Riley Osbourn on Keyboards and newest addition Tony Franklin (The Firm/Blue Murder) on bass. The road warriors will be touring into October, so look for them somewhere near you.
"Never Lookin' Back"

The band has a few gigs with Black Stone Cherry and Finger Eleven followed by dates on the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival. Sebastian Bach sets title and release date for new album and hangs with ex- American Idol contestant James Durbin
Sebastian Bach hung out with American Idol contestant and rocker James Durbin this past Monday (June 13) and Seb said Durbin told him he wanted to perform a Skid Row song, but was told he couldn't.
Bach said on Facebook: "Interesting. Hanging with James Durbin from 'American Idol'. He tells me he wanted to sing (the Skid Row song) '18 And Life' on 'American Idol' but was told he's not allowed to, it's 'not cleared.' Who makes these decisions and why? How? He was told he could do a Bon Jovi song but not Skid Row. Very interesting. And shitty."
Durbin performed Judas Priest's "Living After Midnight" and "Breaking The Law" with the British heavy metal legends themselves during the "American Idol" finale and rocked the classic "You Got Another Thing Coming" on the March 1 edition of "Idol". Durbin told USA Today last month that he is planning to record an album, with what he described as a "(Dio) 'Holy Diver', (Black Sabbath) 'Neon Knights'-type" feel. "I potentially heard my first single yesterday," he said, adding that it "still has a heavy edge and is radio friendly." He plans to reunite with a friend from home who will be his lead guitarist. He also hopes to work with Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater.
Sebastian Bach has set "Kicking & Screaming" as the title of his new solo album, due on September 27 via Frontiers Records. The CD was produced by Bob Marlette (Black Sabbath, Shinedown, Atreyu, Filter) and features young guitar virtuoso Nick Sterling and drummer Bobby Jarzombek (Halford, Riot, Iced Earth). The follow-up to 2007's "Angel Down" was mastered at Precision Mastering in Los Angeles with Tom Baker.
Bach says, "I could not be happier with my new album, 'Kicking & Screaming'. The songs, performances and sound quality are beyond what I could have ever imagined. This is my best record yet and I can't wait for all of you to crank it!"
The "Kicking & Screaming" album cover will be created by artist Richard Villa. According to Sebastian, it will feature "the hottest model in the land", presumably referring to his new girlfriend, 25-year-old model Minnie Gupta, "and reflect the lyrics as well as the brutality of the music. It's gonna be rock 'n' roll to the 9th degree album — very heavy, cool, trippy and nightmare-ish."
