Rush is up first with their amazing new track 'Headlong Flight,' from the 'Clockwork Angels' album, which will be released on June 12th. The over 7 minute track attacks the senses in a way we have come to expect from the band.
Bassist-singer Geddy Lee, guitarist Alex Lifeson, and drummer-lyricist Neil Peart have recorded an entire album that follows the same narrative thread — that of a young man's journey to follow his dreams in a dystopian alternate world.
Rush will kick off their North American tour on Sept. 7th in Manchester, New Hampshire, with dates rocking through Dec. 2nd in Houston, Texas. The band will also be this will be headlining the Sweden Rock Festival in June of 2013, their first appearance at a European festival in 33 years! Their show at Sweden Rock Festival will be the only festival appearance in Europe, and the band's first festival appearance since they played at Pinkpop in Holland in 1979. Rival Sons' new video, for the fantastic track 'Face Of Light' is the next Rock Pick of the Week. The video sees a softer side of the band as they go through the beautiful scenery of the Peak District in the English countryside. The video was filmed with director Dan Ruttley during the band's recent sold-out UK tour with Black Stone Cherry.
Frontman Jay Buchanan comments: "I am happy to say that our record Pressure & Time is about to give us our third single with the song 'Face Of Light'. This is a very special song to us and I am delighted to put out a single with a positive message that can still break a tooth. Three singles from one record; I am so thankful for the support we've been shown. This will more than likely be our last single from the P&T record, so it's a fitting farewell to an unforgettable year with a song so personally close to the vest for me."
Rival Sons are ready to kick ass on all the major European rock festivals and have a couple of gigs in June lined up opening for Guns N' Roses in Netherlands and Germany. The band has recently completed recording their second album 'Head Down' in Nashville and it will be released in August on Earache records.
Bruce Springsteen's 'Rocky Ground' is up next from the 'Wrecking Ball' album. The black-and-white clip shows footage of the hands of a number of different people writing out the lyrics of the tune on a notepad superimposed over various urban scenes shot in slow-motion.
The clip was directed by Thom Zimny, Springsteen longtime videographer, whose credits include the 2010 documentary 'The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town.' The Boss makes a brief cameo in the video; see if you can spot him.
We've been traveling over rocky ground and a new day is coming.
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band played the second-biggest German show of their career on Wednesday (May 30) in Berlin before 55,000 fans. Springsteen played a set focused on new material from Wrecking Ball and an assortment of old favorites, but he opened the night with his first-ever live performance of Wizz Jones' 1973 tune "When I Leave Berlin."
Linkin Park's new album 'Living Things' will be out on June 26th, and the first track 'Burn It Down' is obviously a massive success. It currently sits at #3 on the rock charts, and the band released a video for it last week. Check it out and the 'making of' clip below.
The band's big summer Honda Civic Tour with Incubus kicks off on August 11th in Bristow, Virginia.
Godsmack's cover of the Joe Walsh classic ‘Rocky Mountain Way’ from their 'Live & Inspired' album is up next. The track is rising up into the top 10 of the rock charts, and it's well deserving with their kick ass version of the song for a new generation. The band performed 'Rocky Mountain Way' every night on the recent wrapped Mass Chaos tour with Staind, and now they’ve just released a performance based video for the tune.
My Darkest Days are back with the title track as the next single from their latest album 'Sick And Twisted Affair.' The album was produced by Joey Moi, who has worked with Hinder, Daughtry and Santana. It includes guest musicians John 5 (Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie) along with Three Days Grace members Barry Stock and Neil Sanderson.
The band has posted part 2 of their behind-the-scenes teaser, and in it they describe the tough personal relationships that served as much of the album’s inspiration. “I think we’ve all been in a relationship before that’s just so toxic,” explains lead guitarist Sal Costa. “You want it to be over, but don’t really want it to be over… Just seeing them with another person eats you alive.” “Humans, we’re all just walking contradictions,” adds Walst. The guys are rocking all summer long with Nickelback, Bush and Seether and continue.
“We listen to all types of music. We take stuff from R&B, hip hop, country and bring it into rock and make it something new,” so says My Darkest Days‘ frontman Matt Walst. The band took Joe & Mystikal’s 2007 Top 40 smash single “Stutter,” added a little sex appeal and re-worked it into a rock banger.
Guns N’ Roses News: Full Hall Of Fame Induction set, Steven Adler says he has no desire to ever work with Axl again
Fan filmed footage of the entire set by ex-Guns N' Roses members Slash, Duff McKagan, Steven Adler, Matt Sorum and Gilby Clarke at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony on April 14 in Cleveland, Ohio has been posted by a person showing their true feelings, using 'FuckMrRose' on youtube. The guys performed three "Appetite For Destruction" songs with Myles Kennedy (Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators/Alter Bridge), with Kennedy singing 'Mr. Brownstone', 'Sweet Child O' Mine' and 'Paradise City.' Sorum bashed the skins on "Brownstone," with Adler drumming for the other two songs.
Joining former Guns N’ Roses drummer Matt Sorum, Steven Adler has also decided that he won’t be taking any more questions about his former band....ever. That may be hard for the always talkative Adler, who is sure to be asked questions about GnR in doing press for his new band Adler, but I wish him well in trying.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Adler says that while the band’s recent induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame “couldn’t have gone better,” he’s still bitter about frontman Axl Rose’s refusal to appear at the event.
Q: You think the Guns N' Roses chapter is closed?
A: That’s done. That’s totally out of my system. I was hoping that the five of us would have been there to play and show our respect to the fans, but the three of us who really do care about what our fans think and how much they’ve done for us were there, and we showed our love and respect. In my thank-you speech, I ended it with the words of the late, great Freddie Mercury. "I’ve taken my bows, my curtain calls, you’ve brought me fame and fortune and everything that goes with it, and I thank you all." I think that says it. It couldn’t have gone better. I showed my thanks and my love. Slash is really the main person from that band that is really super-duper…they’re all important, but Slash is the most important, because we grew up together, we started the whole thing together, so it was really great ending that chapter with him.
Q: How did it feel playing those songs with Slash and Duff again?
A: It was great, and Myles Kennedy did a fabulous job…This is the only thing I’m going to say about Axl, and this is the last thing I’m ever going to say, ever, you’re getting it, is I feel blessed and thankful that he was a part of my life for that chapter of my life, but that’s it. That’s it. I have no desire to know him or work with him or do anything with him again. Letting go of that was like a huge weight was lifted off my body. I feel fucking free. Yay!
Q: You and all the fans have wanted that reunion for years. That desire is gone on your part?
A: Yeah, it’s gone. If it was going to happen, that’s when it was going to happen, and in Axl’s letter, he showed his true colors to the world. After that, that’s it. Like I said, the main person I wanted to end that chapter with, and I’m going to start a new chapter with, was Slash.
Q: What true colors did he show in that letter?
A: I think it’s disrespect. He's not for the fans, which is everybody in the world. Basically, he told everybody in the world, "Fuck you, I don’t give a shit what you think."
Q: He mentioned you in his first letter. He said, "Steven was at our show at the Hard Rock, later in '06 in Las Vegas, where I invited him to our after-party and was rewarded with his subsequent interviews filled with reunion lies. Lesson learned."
A: That doesn’t even make any sense. That’s Axl, he doesn’t make any sense, and that’s it, I’m done with him, I’m never mentioning him or talking about him again. That’s it. One last thing – god bless him.Read the entire interview here: www.rollingstone.com
