Slash News: Special New York album release show, video shoot, Jimmy Kimmel Live! appearance, new benefit single for Los Angeles Youth Network with 9-minute video and more
Slash has announced a special release show set for Tuesday, May 22, the release day for the new 'Apocalyptic Love' album in New York City at Irving Plaza. A fan pre-sale will begin tomorrow (Apr. 4) at 10:00 a.m., with the regular on-sale starting Friday April 6 at 10:00 a.m. Tickets will be available at SlashOnline.com.
Slash and his bandmates — Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, consisting of Brent Fitz (drums), Todd Kerns (bass) and Frank Sidoris (guitar), will shoot a "dark" video for the song "You're A Lie" with director Anthony Leonardi III this Saturdaay (Apr. 7). Leonardi is also helming the first feature film produced by Slasher Films, called "Nothing To Fear", which was recently picked up for distribution by Anchor Bay Entertainment.
Slash and the band will perform the already top 15 rock track 'You're A Lie' for the first time on american television this Tuesday, April 10 on ABC TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!.' Fans in attendance at the taping will also be treated to a mini-concert.
The next night, on Wednesday, April 11, Slash and the band will also be performing at the fourth annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards presented by Epiphone that will be broadcast live around the globe on XboxLIVE.com from Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles.
Slash's U.S. tour kicks off May 3rd in Baltimore and includes three U.S. festivals on the itenerary: Saturday, May 5th at Carolina Rebellion; Saturday, May 19th at Rock On The Range; and Friday, May 25th at Rocklahoma.
Slash is doing his part to support the Los Angeles Youth Network, a non-profit organization which helps runaway and homeless youth on the streets of Los Angeles, CA. The ex-Guns N’ Roses guitarist has released a new version of his 2010 single “Gotten,” featuring vocals from Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine, for the charity.

In addition, Slash has created a new video for the track. The nine-minute short film features a storyline that centers on a 16-year-old girl who runs away from home because her mother’s boyfriend is abusive. The girl lives on the street for a time, but eventually returns to the house to rescue her mother. The video stars CW TV show 'Hellcats,' movie actress and singer Amanda “AJ” Milchalka, 'True Blood' actress Kristin Bauer and 'The Breakfast Club' actor Judd Nelson, among others.
“This video was created to make people take notice of the homeless teen epidemic which is rampant in L.A. as well as in the rest of the country,” said Slash in a statement. “The story in this video is just one scenario amid millions of potential situations happening at any given time in Los Angeles alone. Everybody involved with the making of this video selflessly donated their time and talents to this cause. I thank them with all my heart.”
Aerosmith officially announces The Global Warming North American Summer Tour with openers Cheap Trick! (video)
After releasing the initial 'Global Warming North American Summer Tour' dates this past Monday, Aerosmith held a press conference yesterday at The Grove in Los Angeles for an official announcement.
Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel introduced four out of five of the band members, as guitarist Brad Whitford is currently on the Experience Hendrix tour. Steven Tyler said, "We've been underground for four months doing what we do the best, and we've been known to set the world on fire with our type of music for the last couple of years...so we decided to call this the Global Warming Tour and come out from underneath the hood, so to speak."
Guitarist Joe Perry added, "This is the first time we're gonna get to go out [and] actually play some new songs off our new record for our fans…along with the old good ones or the good old ones or whatever. So, we can't wait to bring this thing home."
Bassist Tom Hamilton talked about openers on the tour Cheap Trick, "They're one of those bands where you kind of forget how many great songs they have," he declared. "So, when people come to the show...they're gonna say, 'Oh yeah, those are the guys that do that song. Right.' And, it's just gonna be one after another of really great songs."
Tyler also talked about the band's upcoming album, revealing a few song titles: 'Legendary Child' (which will be the first song we'll hear on the upcoming GI Joe sequel movie soundtrack), 'Beautiful,' and 'Out Go the Lights.' Steven also the album will be out in three months, stating that it was "almost done," and adding, "We have two more songs to finish, and then we gotta mix. It should take us another month and a half, two months, and we'll be in your face before you know it."

Trent Reznor to receive ASCAP Golden Note Award, his version of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Immigrant Song’ featured in new Battlestar Galactica Movie
Trent Reznor will be honored with the ASCAP Golden Note Award during the organization’s 29th Annual Pop Music Awards on April 18 at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles. The gala is invite-only and honors other songwriters and publishers.
Reznor won an Academy Award in 2011 for his score of ‘The Social Network’ and has collected Grammys for his work with Nine Inch Nails, and now will add this prestigious award to his collection. Reznor joins past recipients including Elton John, Quincy Jones, Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty and Lionel Richie. The ASCAP award is presented to songwriters, composers, and artists who have achieved extraordinary career milestones.
"As the creative genius behind the pioneering industrial rock group Nine Inch Nails and one of the most innovative and cutting-edge songwriter-composers of any genre, Trent Reznor continues to blaze trails into uncharted musical territory," ASCAP President and Chairman Paul Williams said in a press release. "We’re thrilled to honor him with the prestigious Golden Note Award for his achievements in songwriting and his award-winning film scores." Congratulations to Trent!
Reznor and Karen O's (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) version of Led Zeppelin's 'Immigrant Song' will be featured in the new SyFy Network movie 'Battlestar Galactica: Blood And Chrome.'
The song was previously used and put together for last year’s 'Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,' which also featured a score composed by Reznor. Here's a clip from the upcoming movie.
Aerosmith News: Tour Dates to be announced this Wednesday, Joe Perry shows up on ‘American Idol’ to wish Steven Tyler Happy Birthday (video)
This Wednesday (Mar. 28) Aerosmith will announce the dates for their upcoming North America tour. A press conference is scheduled at the fountain at The Grove, a big shopping mall in Los Angeles for 11:30am.

Aerosmith have announced one upcoming gig already, headlining the Freshwater Suzuki Salmon Festival in Newfoundland, Canada on July 14, with Cheap Trick and Uncle Kracker opening the show.
Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry made a surprise appearance on American Idol Thursday (Mar. 22) to celebrate Tyler’s birthday. Host Ryan Seacrest mentioned that Steven’s birthday is coming up, and that the show had a special surprise for him.
Joe then lead the contestants and the audience in singing "Happy Birthday." Tyler will turn 64 on Monday.
Before launching into the song with his guitar, Perry told Tyler “I couldn’t decide what to get you for your birthday this year so this will have to do.”
Tyler appeared to get choked up by the honor as he was hugged by fellow Idol judges Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson. Perry gave Tyler a hug, and Seacrest asked Joe if he knew how old Steven was, and he replied, "He’s about a day older than me."
Tyler added, "I’m a Rip Van Winkle, so I’m told, I’m much too young to be this old,” Steven riffed, and explained, “Lyric time for the new album."

Micheal Starr says Gene Simmons has a small dick, the band kicks down an accapella version of the KISS song 'God Gave Rock N' Roll To You,' scary clowns, Steel Panther 'The Movie', and the names Rudy Sarzo, Brooke Shields, George Clooney and Rosemary Clooney's name all come up as the Panthers continue to spread the word about the best Heavy Metal band in Los Angeles. They hope to be the best band in Uranus.
