A&E announced earlier this week it has cancelled 'Gene Simmons Family Jewels' after 7 seasons on the air. The reality show, which chronicled the home life of Simmons, his longtime partner Shannon Tweed and their two children, Nick and Sophie -premiered back in 2006.
It goes out on somewhat of a high note, as the wedding episode in season 6 brought in more than 3 million viewers. Simmons told the Hollywood Reporter: "With Kiss on tour and with my other business commitments, we have decided to draw the final curtain on our show. It has been a wonderful, life-altering experience for our family, and after seven successful seasons, we feel it’s time to move on."
A statement from A&E read: "For seven great seasons, Gene, Shannon, Nick and Sophie have been part of the A&E family, and we could not be more proud of the unparalleled run of Gene Simmons Family Jewels. On behalf of everyone at A&E, we’d like to thank the production team at Thinkfactory Media, Gene and his amazing family for their partnership, collaboration and for opening up their lives, warts-and-all, to us throughout the years."
KISS News: ‘Family Jewels’ season premiere full episode, Promo poster sells on eBay, band to share bill with Rihanna at Oslo Music Festival,
The eighth season of ‘Gene Simmons Family Jewels’ kicked off with flames tonight (May 28) on the A&E Network. The episode centered on Simmons and Tweed adjusting to their new life as a married couple. Gene and Shannon meet with their therapist, and the discussions continue with their kids Nick and Sophie.
Later, Shannon brings up adopting a child, which becomes a major issue on the show. Shannon also comes accross a set of keys while moving boxes of keepsakes in their garage. Unable to find the proper lock, she eventually confronts Gene in his office about the keys. He admits that it’s the key to a safe-deposit box containing his famous collection of photos of the many women that he has been with. Shannon tells him that they have no place in their marriage, and that if she will destroy the photos if he won’t.
When Kiss shipped their 1974 debut album out to radio stations, it included a little something extra in the form of a full color poster of the band. Nearly 40 years later, that one-time freebie courtesy of Casablanca Records & Tapes has a collector’s value of at least $1500, based on the one that recently sold on eBay.
Due to the way it was originally shipped, the seller notes that every copy of this poster has crease marks in it — in fact, if it doesn’t, it’s likely a reproduction. This particular poster was purchased at a Kiss convention in the early ‘90s and though it does have the fold lines, it’s been in a frame since that purchase date. The listing notes a few minor flaws but overall this rarity appears in very good condition.
KISS will headline the 2nd night of the Kollen Summer Festival in Oslo, Norway on Saturday, June 30th, 2012. The concert will take place at the Holmenkollen National Arena - the roof of Oslo - made world famous by its iconic ski jump that can be seen from all over the capital. This new two day festival will feature 26 artists on three stages!
”KISS Saturday on the big stage at Kollen is a dream come true. Gene Simmons returns for an all-new season of A&E’s hit series 'Gene Simmons Family Jewels,' with a special one-hour episode on Monday, May 28 at 9:00 PM ET/PT. The longest running celebrity family-based series on television (now in season 7), begins with a shocking moment for America’s most traditional, non-traditional family. After going through their most tumultuous year of their 28-year history, Gene and Shannon finally tied the knot. However, that doesn’t mean all their troubles have magically gone away.
In what promises to be the most explosive season ever, Shannon decides she wants to adopt a child, and the entire family battles over her decision. Gene, Nick and Sophie are against the adoption, and for the first time in her life, Sophie is at drastic odds with her mother. Meanwhile, Gene is trying to learn to be a better husband but is still battling with his rock-star ways as Nick is striving to emulate his father’s good qualities, yet finding it hard to avoid the bad ones. From the family’s adoption battle, to Gene and Shannon’s honeymoon in Africa (where Shannon has an ulterior motive planned), to Gene on tour for the first time as a married man, fans will have an all-access pass as America’s favorite rock family unfolds personal layers of their lives that they have yet to reveal.
Last season 'Gene Simmons Family Jewels' had its most watched season ever, with an average of 1.8 million total viewers per premiere episode with Gene and Shannon’s engagement and wedding episodes representing the #1 and #2 telecasts ever for the series.

This from Kissonline.com (on October 2nd): Last night Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed married in a beautiful and touching ceremony in a garden outside the Beverly Hills Hotel. Over 400 family and friends witnessed the couple exchange vows and say their "I do's." Nick Simmons was the best man, and Sophie Simmons was the maid of honor. Paul Stanley and Doc McGhee were also in the wedding party.
At the reception Sophie and Nick both toasted their parents, and Paul told a few humorous Gene stories before wishing Gene and Shannon the happiness that he has found in his own marriage.
Sophie, Nick, Shannon and Gene all sang during the evening. At one point Paul's son, Evan, played lead guitar as Nick sang the Doors "Roadhouse Blues." Then KISS, in wedding attire, took the stage and performed 'Lick It Up', 'Shout It Out Loud' and 'Rock and Roll All Nite'.
The wedding was truly one to remember!
