YES started their 2013 U.S. tour on July 6 in the beautiful new Vina Robles Amphitheatre nestled in California wine country. Set in picturesque Paso Robles, the venue offers a fantastic environment for live music. Yes are performing three of their albums in their entirety, 'Going For the One,' 'Close To The Edge,' and the 'The Yes Album' on this tour, and the crowd was receptive to the amazing catalog of this incredible night of music.
Yes members, Chris Squire, Steve Howe, Alan White, Geoff Downes, and new vocalist Jon Davison brought forth amazing versions of 'Yours is No Disgrace,' 'I’ve Seen All Good People,' 'Starship Trooper,' 'Close to the Edge,' 'And You And I,' 'Going for the One,' 'Wondrous Stories,' 'Awaken,' and more. While I found myself think about original YES vocalist Jon Anderson (who lives down the 101 in Arroyo Grande, CA.), Davidson has proven to be an amazing vocalist in his own right, obviously being exposed to YES' music at an early age.
Yes continue their Summer tour in the U.S. until mid-August, which includes a stop at the YESTIVAL on August 3 in Camden, N.J. The band will also be a part of the Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy Camp at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas next week (Jul. 14-17). A European tour is slated for Apr./May of 2014.

Yes have announced their first-ever festival–YESTIVAL on Saturday, August 3 at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ.
The multi-platinum progressive rock titans, performing their classic albums 1971’s THE YES ALBUM and 1972’s CLOSE TO THE EDGE in their entirety and more, will be joined by like-minded artists such as The Musical Box, Renaissance featuring Anne Haslam, Carl Palmer’s ELP Legacy, and other acts.
Says YES bassist CHRIS SQUIRE, “This is a concept we’ve been trying to put into motion for some time, and only now we’ve been able to turn it into reality. We’re looking forward to starting YESTIVAL out in the Philadelphia area, which has been a Yes stronghold since the ’70s.”
The Musical Box is a band that is internationally acclaimed for its historically accurate re-enactment of Genesis early work. As part of the 40th commemorative anniversary, the band will present the album FOXTROT in its entirety. The Musical Box, exclusively licensed by Peter Gabriel and Genesis, has become the reference in the interpretation of contemporary music. Peter Gabriel saw a performance and said “The Musical Box recreated, very accurately, what Genesis was doing.” Genesis co-founder Michael Rutherford added, “It was better than the real thing.”
Carl Palmer’s ELP Legacy will be performing innovative versions of classic Emerson, Lake & Palmer hits. Palmer, named by ROLLING STONE magazine as one of the 10 greatest drummers of all time, has been performing for audiences for nearly four decades with some of music’s most memorable bands like Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Asia.
Renaissance is a band which for 44 years has been acclaimed for their unique blending of progressive rock with classic and symphonic influences.
VOLTO! featuring Danny Carey of Tool.
SOUND OF CONTACT Simon Collins (son of PHIL COLLINS) , Dave Kerzner, Matt Dorsey, Randy McStine.
YESTIVAL will also feature a second stage of all-day entertainment with performances by up-and-coming progressive rock bands such as Scale The Summit and a special appearance by The School Of Rock, as well as an art showing by Roger Dean, whose visuals and album covers for many bands including YES, Uriah Heep and Asia have played an important part in the history of progressive rock.
Tickets are on sale now and start at just $35. Get tickets and more info at yesworld.com
The Yes North American tour will kick off July 6 in Paso Robles, CA. at the beautiful new Vina Robles Ampitheatre.
Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band rocked the California Mid-State Fair on July 21, 2012. The band, consisting of Kenny, Noah Hunt on vocals, Tony Franklin on bass, Chris Layton on drums and Riley Osbourne brought an awesome set, which wrapped up with an amazing version of Jimi Hendrix's 'Voodoo Chile.' The band played a completely different set in the late show, but unfortunately I wasn't able to attend both shows. Check out the first set in its entirety below. Thanks for rocking the California Central Coast Kenny & band!
