Add Phil Lewis of L.A. Guns to the rock fragrance list

Gypsy - the custom fragrance created exclusively by Philip Lewis, using the finest essential oils from around the world. Holy frankincense from the East, refreshing California citrus, and Egyptian patchouli from the mouth of the river Nile are combined to form a unique and distinctive scent for men or women with gypsy in their soul.

Phil describes the fragrance on his website: "This formula was created for my own personal use and perfected over many years to the version I wear today. For the first time, I've acquired a small set of limited edition bottles for Gypsy. A little goes a long way with these potent oils - just a small dab is enough for all day. Each 4ml (1/8 oz) black glass vial is adorned with a double-sided Gypsy by Phil Lewis guitar pick label on a silver plated chain, nestled in a black velvet gift pouch. The first 10 bottles will receive the special white fleur de lis cap.

Oils will be mixed and bottled after October 1st, and I look forward to sharing my creation with all the other gypsies around the world.

New all-star KISS tribute band ALIVE announces concert dates, backing upcoming KISS tribute charity album

New all-star KISS tribute band ALIVE announces concert dates, backing upcoming KISS tribute charity album

To mark the 40th Anniversary of KISS, some of the greatest rock musicians for a KISS tribute album. “A World With Heroes” features unique performances of incredible KISS songs. Rock journalist Mitch Lafon is behind the 'A World With Heroes' project, having set it up via a pledgemusic project campaign.  The campaign has gone on to be one of the most successful in the pledgemusic history. Lafon said: “It’s come about because my father-in-law passed away at the hospice in January. I wanted to raise awareness and give back – rock stars certainly help raise awareness.” Now, Guns n’Roses guitarist Bumblefoot, former Whitesnake drummer Brian Tichy and ex-Pantera bassist Rex Brown have formed Kiss tribute act ALIVE after they discovered their shared passion for the band from the upcoming charity record. The guys have also announced three upcoming shows, two in Southern California and one in Las Vegas.

Brown says: “We got asked to play on the album to benefit cancer research. It was a great cause and we wanted to be part of it – but I think it also came from a place of real passion too.

“I remember I was in seventh grade and this chick had a copy of Alive! I swiped it, and it changed the future of rock’n'roll as I know it. They are one of the reasons I jam to this day. It’s the attitude and the songs, not the schtick, that I go back to every time.

“After we’d heard what we’d recorded, we thought it would be a lot of fun to do it live. As it turned out, Mark and I had just finished recording the upcoming Kill Devil Hill album, and had a small window of time this summer before we head out on the road again. The timing perfectly coincided with breaks in Ron and Brian’s schedules as well, so we decided to put this thing together.”

Bumblefoot says: “Hearing the Kiss Alive! album at the age of five is what made me want to play guitar and join a band. I’m looking forward to playing the songs that launched my life.”

Tichy adds: “Kiss was the first band I got into. Peter Criss was my first drum idol. When the idea of going for this together was brought up we all reacted with unbridled excitement.” For more info, check out the guys facebook page

Pledges can be made now through and will be used to make this amazing tribute come to life and to benefit The Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Cancer Care hospice (Lafon's father-in-law passed away there peacefully on January 4th, 2013).

Don Dokken and Accept's Mark Tornillo are the latest artists to sign up for the KISS tribute album 'A World With Heroes'. Dokken will be covering the '70s KISS classic "Cold Gin" while Tornillo will venture into KISS' heavier '90s sound with his cover of "Spit" from the 'Revenge' album.

L.A. GUNS spent a few days in Los Angeles shooting three videos to support the record. Videos for "Araña Negra" and "You Better Not Love Me" were also filmed. Videographer Jack Foster was behind the lens for the shoot at the legendary Circus Disco in Hollywood. With an LED logo in the background, the band meshed theatrics with its expected rock energy on the big stage. Later, additional scenes were filmed in L.A.'s colorful Little Mexico and the landmark Hollywood Forever cemetery.

L.A. GUNS last month announced the addition of guitarist Frankie Wilsey (Sea Hags/Arcade) to the group's ranks, but apparently he is no longer a member, and has been replaced by Michael Grant from ENDEVERAFTER. Grant will make his live debut with L.A. GUNS this weekend in Chicago and Detroit.

L.A. Guns announce new guitarist

L.A. Guns have announced the addition of guitarist Frankie Wilsey to the group's ranks. The band released this statement: "We first met [Frankie] back in 2007 when he was playing in Stephen Pearcy's band, Arcade, on the Rock Never Stops tour. Frankie spent more time on our bus than his own, impressing us with hours of classic bootleg videos from the '70s and '80s. He was clearly a rock aficionado, truly a scholar and a gentleman.

"Frankie's been playing guitar since 1977. He formed his first band, Head On, in San Francisco in '81 and then went on to form the hometown Bay Area champions Sea Hags in '88. He moved to Los Angeles in the early '90s, where he teamed up with Stephen Pearcy of Ratt and Fred Coury of Cinderella to form Arcade. In addition to lots of sessions in Los Angeles, Frankie recently toured with legendary singer John Waite and also had a residency in Las Vegas as Joe Perry in the definitive Aerosmith tribute band Aeromyth.

"Frankie joins [L.A. Guns] with guns blazing, ready to tour the world and get involved in writing and recording new original material."

Says Frankie: "I met Phil [Lewis, vocals] and Steve [Riley, drums] years ago, traveling down this road. Found out they're blessed with classic-rock style and a road-warrior ethic that is rare in this weakling world of music.

"I have to say I think this is a very good matchup. Let's hope the fans feel the same."

Due to "extenuating circumstances and musical differences," guitarist Stacey Blades announced his departure from L.A. Guns last week.
