Another legendary concert I was lucky enough to attend was the 1985 Day On The Green concert at Oakland Coliseum in Oakland, California. Day On The Green concerts had been happening for many years in the Bay Area, and this one was the hardest rocking yet. The concert morphed into the stop for the "Monsters of Rock" tour in subsequent years, but we haven't had a true Day On The Green festival concert in California for many a year now---too bad.
The concert took place Saturday August 31, 1985 and featured headliners The Scorpions, Ratt, Y&T, Metallica, Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force and german rockers Victory. I went to the show with a bunch of high school buddies, as I had just graduated in 1984. We saw many more friends and fellow rockers who made the trek up to Oakland as well, as this way the concert of the summer!! The party was on!
I always wish I would have taken more pictures of my experience at these shows, but I found some footage on youtube (although none of Y&T, Scorpions or Ratt).

Metallica "For Whom The Bell Tolls"
This incorporates a bit of Day On The Green footage:
Although all the bands had exceptional sets (can't really remember Victory's set though), Metallica stole the show. With the legendary Cliff Burton on bass, the band was on top of their game, as it was all starting to come together for them. The crowd went fucking crazy for them, and they blew doors! They were already on their way, but after this show, Metallica took it to another level in their illustrious career!
