When you think of L.A. Guns, sleazy, dynamic, Hollywood rock n' roll comes to mind. Amazing albums like the first 'L.A. Guns', as well as 'Cocked & Loaded,' and 'Hollywood Vampires,' had the band all over the radio and television, as well as touring the world with the biggest bands in rock and heavy metal. The band have released their new album 'Hollywood Forever' on Cleopatra Records and with it, have made a significant and relevant rock album that lives up to all other L.A. Guns releases. I had a chance to talk with a true gentlemen of rock, L.A. Guns drummer Steve Riley about a number of topics, including the new album, getting the whole dual L.A. Guns mess behind him with Tracii Guns ending his version of the band, working with legendary producer Andy Johns, the state of the music business, the gig when he knew L.A. Guns had "made it", playing with W.A.S.P. and where he stands with the band today, meeting his idol, an epic jam session with Slash, John Entwistle and Frank DiMino from Angel as well as upcoming tour dates and a 2-DVD set. Check out the conversation below.

‘Hollywood Forever,’ which features the awesome new track, ‘You Better Not Love Me,' brings forth the best of that L.A. Guns sound we all know and love. The album is the fourth L.A. Guns record produced by the legendary Andy Johns (Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Van Halen, Cinderella, Chickenfoot and many more), and he definitely brings out the best in the boys on this one.
Former L.A. Guns member Kelly Nickels makes a special appearance on the album, playing bass on ‘Venus Bomb’ and providing backing vocals on other tracks. The true L.A. Guns lineup of Phil Lewis, Steven Riley, Stacey Blades and Scott Griffith are making this latest offering a big success. Slash News: New photo book chronicling his last 20 years due in October, reveals catching his mom with David Bowie naked
'Slash: An Intimate Portrait,' a new photo book coming out in October will celebrate the last 20 years of the rockers life in photos. Two decades of previously unpublished photos of the guitar God taken by a legend in his own right, rock photographer Robert Knight capture Slash in many different lights ranging from candid photos to funny shots, showing an intimate look at the man underneath the infamous top hat.
The book features a foreward written by Slash’s good friend Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones and a preface penned by Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry. The rest of the book is written and rounded out by Richard Bienstock, the current senior editor of Guitar World magazine and executive editor of Guitar Aficionado magazine. The photo book will also coincide with an upcoming special edition release of ‘Apocalyptic Love,’ due out around the same time.
In a new interview released this past week by NME, Slash revealed that he once walked in on his mother and David Bowie. “He was always over – they were always together. I caught them naked once. They had a lot of stuff going on, but my perspective was limited. Looking back on it, I know exactly what was going on. When I look back on that whole combination of people, I can only imagine how freaky it was.” So can we.
Slash’s mother, Ola Hudson, was Bowie’s costume designer in the mid-’70s during his ‘Thin White Duke’ period. This involved Bowie’s album ‘Station to Station’ and movie ‘The Man Who Fell to Earth,’ both of which were released in 1976. “My mum started working with David professionally at first,” he continued. “I’m pretty sure that’s how it started. Then it turned into some sort of mysterious romance that went on for a while after that...She did all that and he was around for a while.”

Led Zeppelin News: New Jimmy Page book, Robert Plant new band makes U.S. debut in Clarksdale, Mississippi & releases new live album recorded last month, and no…he’s not married
A new book titled 'Light & Shade: Conversations with Jimmy Page' compiled by longtime Guitar World editorial director Brad Tolinski, is slated for release on Oct. 23rd by Crown Publishing Group. The book will shed light on everything from Page's years as a sought-after session musicians, his Zeppelin days, his various musical endeavors following the band's 1980 breakup and more.
Tolinski used as his source material more than 50 hours worth of interviews he conducted with Page over the last 20 years. Light & Shade encompasses Page’s entire career, beginning with his early years as England’s top session guitarist when he worked with artists ranging from Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey, and Burt Bacharach to the Kinks, The Who, and Eric Clapton. Page speaks frankly about his decadent yet immensely creative years in Led Zeppelin, his synergistic relationships with band members Robert Plant, John Bonham, and John Paul Jones, and his notable post-Zeppelin pursuits. While examining every major track recorded by Zeppelin, including “Stairway to Heaven,” “Whole Lotta Love,” and “Kashmir,” Page reflects on the band’s sensational tours, the filming of the concert movie The Song Remains the Same, his fascination with the occult, meeting Elvis Presley, and the making of the rock masterpiece Led Zeppelin IV, about which he offers a complete behind-the-scenes account. Additionally, the book is peppered with “sidebar” chapters that include conversations between Page and other guitar greats, including his childhood friend Jeff Beck and hipster icon Jack White.
Through Page’s own words, Light and Shade presents an unprecedented first-person view of one of the most important musicians of our era.
Guitarist Slash calls Light & Shade "the most comprehensive & compelling collection of interviews, insights & historical anecdotes of one of rock and roll's premier guitarists, songwriters and producers ever compiled," with Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett adding that the book "illuminates the haunted genius of Jimmy Page in an original and completely satisfying way." ZZ Top frontman Billy Gibbons says, "This fine work will rock you!" Pre-order the book here: www.barnesandnoble.com
Robert Plant has released a new live album in record time from the second-ever show from his newest band, Sensational Space Shifters. The 15-track set was recorded on July 12th at the HMV Forum in London. You can order the live download here: www.livedownloads.com
Plant’s most recent group, the Band of Joy just released a new live concert film, so it is surprising and a treat for us to get this new collection from his new band. Sensational Space Shifters features singer/guitarist Patty Griffin (also in the Band of Joy), multi-instrumentalist Juldeh Camara of Julu, guitarists Justin Adams and Liam 'Skin' Tyson, keyboardist John Baggot and bassist Billy Fuller. Adams, Baggot and Tyson were previously with Plant in the Strange Sensation, the group with which Plant recorded 2002's 'Dreamland' and 2005's 'Mighty Rearranger.'
The live album is titled '7/12/12 HMV Forum, London, GB.' and includes songs from Plant and Griffin’s solo careers, covers of great blues cuts by Howlin’ Wolf and John Mayall, and some Led Zeppelin classics. The group is scheduled to made their U.S. debut this past weekend on August 11th at the Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival in Clarksdale, Mississippi.
'Robert Plant Presents Sensational Space Shifters 7/12/12 HMV Forum, London, GB' Tracklist:

2. Tin Pan Valley
8. No Bad News
10. Black Dog

13. Whole Lotta Love/Steal Away/Bury My Body

There was a rumor out there that Robert Plant and his Band of Joy and now Sensational Space Shifter collaborator Patty Griffin were married. A rep for Plant soon informed The Hollywood Reporter that the rumors were untrue and now, Griffin herself backs that up, telling Rolling Stone: "I can tell you that we didn't! [Robert is] a great embellisher. But no, we did not get married."
Plant and Griffin have been sharing a home in Austin, Texas of late. Griffin, a successful singer/songwriter in her own right, is planning to focus on performing solo again in the fall, and has scheduled a series of shows without Plant in October.
As mentioned above, Plant and his Sensational Space Shifters band made their U.S. debut over the weekend at the Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival's 25th anniversary in the legendary Delta blues town of Clarksdale, Mississippi. Plant has an obvious affinty for the town , as he has visited there numerous times. You may remember that Plant recorded and album with Jimmy Page titled 'Walking Into Clarksdale' back in 1999. The town is also home of the Delta Blues Museum. Clarksdale and Coahoma county where it's loccated were the homes of early bluesmen W.C. Handy, Son House, Charley Patton and Robert Johnson. The surrounding areas are also well known for musical legends Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Sam Cooke, Sonny Boy Williamson, Ike and Tina Turner and Big Jack Johnson.
Here's some footage of the band's performance, although no really good footage is available as of yet:
