VH1 Classic moves up airdate of “That Metal Show” featuring Jani Lane; his fellow guest on TMS Micheal Sweet of Stryper talks about Jani in interview

Former Warrant lead singer Jani Lane, who passed away on Thursday in a Woodland Hills, California hotel, took part in a taping of an upcoming episode of the "That Metal Show" alongside Michael Sweet (Stryper) and Taime Downe (Faster Pussycat) on July 23. The program featuring Lane was originally scheduled to premiere on October 1 on VH1 Classic but has now had its air date moved up to August 27.

"The Very Hairy Rock Show", from 96 Rock  in Raleigh, North Carolina, conducted an interview with Sweet yesterday about his meeting with Lane. Check out the conversation:

In an online posting, Sweet said, "I'm still in shock over the sudden passing of Jani. I was just sitting in a dressing room with him less than a month ago. Had I known, I would have spent more time with him. He was a good-hearted guy with a gentle soul. I know he had a tough life and many battles, but who doesn't? He seemed to be genuinely working so hard at sorting things out and getting things in order. It's a true shame."

Jani Lane, ex-Warrant vocalist is dead at the age of 47. Lane's body was discovered at the Comfort Inn hotel in Woodland Hills, CA. So far, no official cause of death has been released.

TMZ first reported earlier today of his death. Lane was pronounced dead by Fire Department personnel who responded to a call shortly before 5:30 p.m. in the Comfort Inn in the 20100 block of Ventura Boulevard in Woodland Hills, California, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

On July 23, Lane taped an upcoming episode of the "That Metal Show" alongside Michael Sweet (Stryper) and Taime Downe (Faster Pussycat). The show featuring Lane will air on October 1st on VH1 Classic.

Alice Cooper: "Our thoughts go out to our fallen brother Jani Lane, his family, his friends and his fans."

Michael Sweet (Stryper): "My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Jani Lane. Had the pleasure of meeting him on 'That Metal Show' and he was a great guy."

His passing has shocked and saddened me to the point of tears. A great person whose talent was far greater than most people will ever know. I produced a number of songs for his solo project in the late '90s. My connection with Jani as artist and producer was textbook perfect. Upon completion of those sessions, we both said it was a mind-blowing experience to work together and we would do it again, [and] we did. The world will truly miss Jani Lane. I'm so lucky to have been a small part of his life. RIP Jani. I'm numb!!"
