Styx ready to take over the TV airwaves to promote upcoming 2CD/DVD/Blu-Ray release

Styx will be invading the TV airwaves throughout the month of January, promoting their upcoming DVD release, Styx: The Grand Illusion/Pieces Of Eight Live, out January 31st.

Tommy Shaw, James “JY” Young, Chuck Panozzo, Lawrence Gowan, Ricky Phillips and Todd Sucherman will be keeping very busy. Tomorrow (Wednesday, January 11th) Styx will perform 'Come Sail Away' on The Rosie Show, which will air at 7 PM ET/PT on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network. It's been said that host Rosie O’Donnell accompanied the band on her own drum kit. That should be interesting...I guess.

The Styx episode of VH1’s Behind The Music has been updated. It's now called Behind The Music Remastered, and will air this Saturday, January 14th at 9 PM ET/PT on VH1 Classic.

But wait...there's more: NBC will air 'Improve-Ice Starring Styx,' on Sunday, January 15th at 4 PM ET/PT, which was filmed in Greenville, SC at the Bi-Lo Center and features champion figure skaters Johnny Weir, Michael Weiss, Nancy Kerrigan, Jeremy Abbott, Ryan Bradley, Sasha Cohen, Nicole Bobek and Mirai Nagasu performing to various STYX classics. All of their routines were choreographed the day of the show.

The HDNet channel will re-broadcast the 2006 concert special, 'One with Everything - Styx & The Contemporary Youth Orchestra of Cleveland,' on Sunday, January 22nd at 9pm ET/PT. Styx joined forces with the 171 piece orchestra and choir to perform various Styx classics.

It's all to help promote the release of two of the most beloved albums in the Styx catalog. 1977's 'The Grand Illusion' and 1978's 'Pieces Of Eight.' Eagle Rock Entertainment will release Styx: The Grand Illusion/Pieces Of Eight Live on DVD, Blu-Ray, and DVD/2CD on January 31. This show was recorded November 9, 2010 at the historic Orpheum Theater in Memphis, Tennessee, on the tour that saw them perform both these albums in their entirety for the first time.

This 20-song two-hour and 11-minute presentation features stunning high-definition visuals accenting the complex musical arrangements recorded in DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital 5.1, and LPCM Stereo. The staging of these two multi-platinum albums and the fevered response makes this concert a must for all Styx fans. The Grand Illusion/Pieces of Eight Live also includes the bonus feature "Putting On The Show," an inside look at the people and equipment needed to stage such a massive spectacle.

Get your Styx Jewelry just in time for the Holidays

Legendary rockers STYX - Tommy Shaw, James “JY” Young, Chuck Panozzo, Lawrence Gowan, Ricky Phillips and Todd Sucherman - have teamed up with jewelry designer Diana Warner to create the Diana Warner For Styx jewelry collection, which was made available exclusively on the band’s official website on November 11th, just in time for holiday shopping.

Each piece is hand-made in Diana Warner’s New York City studio, with prices ranging from $55-$200. The first items available are eight dog tag necklaces made of 30 inch chains of gunmetal, antique gold or antique silver plate over brass. The charms are made of pewter and rose gold, gunmetal, antique gold or antique silver. They’ll also be selling guitar pick earrings available in 4 finishes: gunmetal, rose gold, antique gold and antique silver, as well as antique gold and silver charms with one of the band’s well-recognized lyrics, “Come Sail Away With Me.”

This is only the first part of the Diana Warner For Styx collection. Multiple styles of limited edition charms will be created in 2012, which will be sold in a small number and will be considered collector’s items. A full line of Diana Warner For Styx jewelry will be made available in 2012. This is the first collection Diana has designed for a band and collaborated on this project with singer/guitarist Tommy Shaw’s wife, Jeanne Shaw.

“The second we saw Diana’s pieces, we knew we wanted to work with her,” says Jeanne. “We’re so thrilled to be able to offer something very special to Styx's fans that’s worlds different than anything we’ve done before. We hope they love the collection as much as we do.”

In touring news, STYX is continuing to criss-cross the U.S. in support of REGENERATION, VOLUME I & II, a double-disc collection of re-recorded classics that was released on October 4 via Eagle Rock Entertainment. The band had originally re-recorded these acclaimed anthems to sell only at their live shows, as they continued to tour the globe and introduce a new generation of fans to their chart-topping hits. Def Leppard performs on “Lopez Tonight”, “Rockline” show stream, Vivian Campbell solo track

Def Leppard performs on “Lopez Tonight”, “Rockline” show stream, Vivian Campbell solo track

Here's Def Leppard's performances on "Lopez Tonight" from last night (May 12, 2001). The band rocked "Rock Of Ages" on the show broadcast, and did a web-only performance of "Hysteria".

Def Leppard/Thin Lizzy guitarist Vivian Campbell has released a new solo track, entitled "Seems So Real". The track was written by Campbell and Robert Cosio and was produced by Cosio. Mixing duties were handled by Ronan McHugh.

"Seems So Real" recording lineup:
-Vivian Campbell: Lead vocals, Lead And Rhythm Guitars, Background Vocals
-Robert Cosio: Rhythm guitar, Slide Guitar, Electric Piano, Background Vocals
-Mark Schulman: Drums
-Lou Castro: Bass guitar

Campbell in 2005 released a solo album called "Two Sides Of If", where he sang lead and played blused-based guitar. Campbell said: "I have always had an affinity for organic music, whether it was blues, or organic pop, or soul, or whatever, which may seem strange, coming from a guy who plays guitar with Def Leppard, who are probably the most produced band in the world. And with blues, you know, and particularly with this record, I did it live in the studio, because I wanted it to have that interaction between real musicians playing music in real time."

Listen to the track on Soundcloud:

Listen to the recent appearance of Def Leppard on the long airing syndicated radio show "Rockline", hosted by the legendary Bob Coburn. Other recent shows archived include Alter Bridge, Peter Frampton and Saving Abel. Look for upcoming shows featuring Tommy Shaw of Styx, Seether, Heart, Black Stone Cherry, Adelita's Way, Black Country Communion, Queensryche, and Def Leppard's Phil Collen with his new project Manraze.
