Dee Snider tells VP candidate Paul Ryan to stop rocking Twisted Sister’s music
by craig on Aug.24, 2012, under ROCK NEWS
It hasn't been a good week or two for rock music in Republican Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan's life. First, after calling himself a Rage Against The Machine fan, Rage band member Tom Morello writes a blistering op-ed piece denouncing him and his policies on Rollingstone.com. Now, scratch Dee Snider of Twisted Sister off the list of fan's of Ryan's.
Ryan used what is one of Twisted Sister's most popular song's 'We’re Not Gonna Take It' as his intro at a political rally in Pennsylvania last Tueday, but he won't be using it anymore.
“I emphatically denounce Paul Ryan’s use of my band Twisted Sister’s song, ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It,’ in any capacity,” says Dee. “There is almost nothing he stands for that I agree with except the use of the [home exercise system] P90X.”
The Ryan team has heeded the message. The site Politico.com quotes an email from a Ryan spokesperson that says, "We're Not Gonna play it anymore." Guess they'll have to start using music from Ted Nugent .
