Aussie band Jet have announced today that they are parting ways after rocking for over a decade and selling six million records worldwide.
Brothers Nic Cester (vocals/guitar) and Chris Cester (drummer) as well as bassist Cameron Muncey and lead guitarist Mark Wilson fromed Jet in Melbourne, Australia back in 2001.
Jet released three studio albums, including the 3.5 million selling ‘Get Born’ in 2003, which included the kick ass tracks ‘Are You Gonna Be My Girl?,’ ‘Cold Hard Bitch’ and ‘Look What You’ve Done.’ They also released the albums ‘Shine On’ and 2009′s ‘Shaka Rock.’
An official statement addressing the break up was released by the band: “After many successful years of writing, recording and touring we wish to announce our discontinuation as a group.” They go on to say “From the many pubs, theatres, stadiums and festivals all across the world it was the fans that made our amazing story possible and we wish to thank them all. Thank you, and good night.”
Jet members Chris Cester and Mark Wilson announced last year that they are working on a side project called DamnDogs, so hopefully thay Aussie rock spirit that Jet had will carry on into the new project. Thanks for the rock guys, and best of luck!
