His hometown has already named a street after him called Dave Grohl Way, and now Warren, Ohio has constructed 900-pound drumsticks out of huge poplar logs as a tribute to one of their favorite sons. The sticks will be unveiled at the Warren Amphitheatre in between two acts at the River Rock on the Amp Concert series tonight (July 7).

The drumsticks will remain at the Warren Amphitheatre until the final show of the season in September, then will be relocated to Dave Grohl Alley, just south of the city’s Courthouse Square. The drumsticks set the new world record for the Largest Drumsticks, according to the World Records Academy. The World’s Largest Drumsticks are apparently engraved with feathers to resemble Grohl’s tattoos.

Grohl is currently at work on his upcoming documentary ‘Sound City’ about the legendary Van Nuys recording studio of the same name.
