Journey were in a quality segment on CBS Sunday Morning over the weekend. The piece opened with the focus on the band’s classic, “Don’t Stop Believin’,” a song the band has played every show since it was recorded for 1981’s “Escape.”
The tune has become a national anthem of sorts, and with digital sales at almost four and a half million, it is officially the most downloaded song ever recorded in the 20th century. Jonathan Cain and Neil Schon reflect on the song.
The segment continues with the life story and career path of singer Arnel Pineda, who Schon found on youtube singing covers in a Filipino band. It’s an inspirational story, that gets to Pineda when telling it. It’s a good profile, check it out:
“‘City Of Hope’,”the first single from Eclipse, was inspired by, and written in (singer) Arnel Pineda’s home town of Manila, Philippines. The video is a documentary-style combination of performance, behind-the-scenes glimpses at rehearsals in San Francisco earlier this year, plus footage in Manila.”
