With The Fixx just having released their new album ‘Beautiful Friction,’ which I just highlighted in a previous post, I thought it appropriate to get the first of my archive interviews up on Marshall of Rock. I had the opportunity to chat with Jamie West-Oram and Adam Woods of the band as they made a stop in San Luis Obispo, CA. for a concert at Mott Gym on the Cal Poly University campus. Listen to the 20 minute interview from March 4, 1989 below. I have a multitude of classic interviews to post, so look out for them!
The band was on tour supporting their ‘Calm Animals’ album. The San Luis Obispo tour date was the last in the states before the band headed over to Europe for more touring. West-Oram and Woods touch on subjects ranging from the band’s popularity in the U.S. vs. Europe, MTV’s help in breaking the band, how they came together, the making of and story behind their latest album, musical trends, influences, what they were listening to muscially at the time and more.
Interesting guys and an interesting interview.
