Metallica’s first public U.S. screening of their new movie ‘Through The Never’ will be right in their own backyard at the beautiful historic Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center in San Rafael, CA. The screening will take place on Tuesday, September 17 at 7:15 PM as a special kick-off event prior to the 36th annual Mill Valley Film Festival.
The band will be on hand for a post screening interview and audience Q&A with the founder of the festival and Executive Director of the California Film Institute, Mark Fishkin. This screening is a benefit for the nonprofit California Film Institute, which celebrates and promotes film as art and education through the presentation of the Mill Valley Film Festival and year-round exhibitions at the theater. The movie will get it’s world premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival this Monday, September 9 at 7:30 PM. ‘Through The Never’ will also be screening at Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX on September 25 at 7:00 PM. Fantastic Fest is held each year at the Paramount Theater and the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, which was recently named the best cinema in the U.S. by Entertainment Weekly.
The soundtrack for the movie will be available on the band’s own Blackened Recordings. The digital release and the two CD set will be available on September 24 with vinyl in both 33 1/3 RPM and a special limited, numbered deluxe 45 RPM versions later this Fall. The soundtrack includes 15 songs recorded live in Edmonton and Vancouver in August of 2012 while the band were filming the performance footage in the movie.
