The Rolling Stones brought their ’50 Years and Counting’ mini-tour to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn for 2½ hours Saturday night (Dec. 8), It was their first U.S. show of three and featured guests Mary J. Blige (who also joined them for one of the London shows) on ‘Gimmie Shelter’ and Gary Clark Jr. on ‘I’m Going Down,’ and all the Stones favorites you would expect. “People say, why do you keep doing this?” said Mick Jagger to the audience before kicking into “Brown Sugar.” ”Why do you keep touring, coming back? The answer is, you’re the reason we’re doing this. Thank you for buying our records and coming to our shows for the last 50 years.”

The Stones will play two more U.S. shows in Newark, N.J., on Dec. 13 and 15. They also will be a part of the huge 12-12-12 Hurricane Sandy benefit concert at Madison Square Garden, joining Paul McCartney, the Who, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Eddie Vedder, Billy Joel, Roger Waters, Dave Grohl, Bon Jovi and more.
