12th Annual “Dee’s Ride” benefit led by Dee Snider of Twisted Sister set for September 7

Apr 20, 2014

Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider will once again lead hundreds of motorcyclists all in the name of charity. Dee’s annual ride is set for September 7 at Town of Hempstead Lido Beach Park. The event marks the 12th year of Dee’s ride, and the second to benefit Long Island Cares, the regional food bank and hunger assistance organization founded by the late Harry Chapin in 1980. Over 1,500 riders and guests participated Dee’s ride last year.

"There are more than 320,000 Long Islanders in need of emergency food and community support services because of reductions in critical programs like food stamps, unemployment and other safety net supports," says Dee.

"I've seen the work of Long Island Cares first hand and know how important their services are for families, children, and others who rely upon the assistance of charitable organizations just to get by. We're very fortunate that Harry Chapin had the vision to establish this great organization and food bank thirty-four years ago, and it has grown to meet the changing needs of our communities with some very creative programs like their satellite programs in Freeport and Lindenhurst, along with their mobile outreach units for our veterans, seniors, and the homeless.

I'm very proud to continue Harry Chapin's great work and support Long Island Cares. I hope that many more people will join me on September 7th and fight hunger in our communities." Get more info on the great cause at: deesnidersride.com

‘Revolver/Guitar World Rock & Roll Roast’ to honor Dee Snider of Twisted Sister

Jan 12, 2013

Get ready for a raucous night of comedy, charity and chaos! Revolver and Guitar World are proud to announce the 2nd annual Rock & Roll Roast comedy series with honoree Dee Snider. The event, which is sponsored by Epiphone and Monster Energy Drink, will take place at The Grove in Anaheim, California, on Thursday, January 24.

The Roast is open to the public and will air live on AXS TV at midnight ET (9 p.m. PT).

A portion of the proceeds will benefit MusiCares, a nonprofit organization of The Recording Academy that provides emergency financial assistance and addiction recovery resources to music people in need. Snider was recently named one of the 100 greatest living rock stars by Revolver.

Roastmaster Penn Jillette and other metal-loving luminaries such as last year’s honoree Zakk Wylde, Anthrax’s Scott Ian, Lita Ford, WWE legend Mick Foley and That Metal Show host Eddie Trunk, as well as comedy and roast veterans Jim Norton, Craig Gass, Jim Florentine and more will all take aim at the Twisted Sister frontman and reality TV icon, best known for his outspoken personality, his golden locks and his appearances on The Celebrity Apprentice. Jose Mangin (of Sirius/XM and Headbanger’s Ball fame) will also be on hand to serve as the evening’s official DJ.

Roastee Snider commented, “Roasters, remember: P.A.M.F. Payback’s A Mutha F**ker!” Rock & Roll Roast Executive Producer Josh Bernstein added, “They say you only roast the ones you love, but with Dee Snider, we’ll be making an exception.”

Beyond being the iconic lead singer of Twisted Sister, Snider has starred in several reality TV shows (The Celebrity Apprentice, Gone Country, MTV’s Rock the Cradle, A&E’s Growing Up Twisted) and frequently hosts programs on MTV Networks along with his own long-running nationally syndicated radio show House of Hair.

Never setting his limits, Dee has taken on the role of film producer, actor, voiceover artist, political advocate and, most recently, Broadway star with his run in the hit musical Rock of Ages. His autobiography, Shut Up and Give Me the Mic, was released in the summer of 2012, and Dee returns to the small screen in March 2013 as part of the cast of All-Star Celebrity Apprentice.

This show will kick off on the opening night of the 2013 NAMM Show in Anaheim. This live charity event is not open to the public, but if you want to attend and learn more about being a sponsor for this once-in-a-lifetime event benefiting a great charity and cause, visit rockandrollroast.comfor more information and sponsorship opportunities.

Dee Snider tells VP candidate Paul Ryan to stop rocking Twisted Sister’s music

Dee Snider tells VP candidate Paul Ryan to stop rocking Twisted Sister’s music

Aug 24, 2012

It hasn't been a good week or two for rock music in Republican Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan's life. First, after calling himself a Rage Against The Machine fan, Rage band member Tom Morello writes a blistering op-ed piece denouncing him and his policies on Rollingstone.com. Now, scratch Dee Snider of Twisted Sister off the list of fan's of Ryan's.

Ryan used what is one of Twisted Sister's most popular song's 'We’re Not Gonna Take It' as his intro at a political rally in Pennsylvania last Tueday, but he won't be using it anymore.

“I emphatically denounce Paul Ryan’s use of my band Twisted Sister’s song, ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It,’ in any capacity,” says Dee. “There is almost nothing he stands for that I agree with except the use of the [home exercise system] P90X.”

The Ryan team has heeded the message. The site Politico.com quotes an email from a Ryan spokesperson that says, "We're Not Gonna play it anymore." Guess they'll have to start using music from Ted Nugent .
