U2 will release ‘Ordinary Love,’ a new song written for the upcoming movie ‘Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom,’ on 10-inch vinyl to mark Black Friday Record Store Day on November 29th. The single will also feature a re-recording of ‘Breathe,’ which will be a ‘Mandela Version.’ That track originally appeared on the ‘No Line on the Horizon’ album in 2009.
The sleeve artwork features a painting of anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela by Irish artist and illustrator Oliver Jeffers. Oliver, along with Mac Premo, has directed a lyric video for ‘Ordinary Love’ that will be posted soon on U2.com. Only 10,000 copies of the record will be issued.
Movie producer Harvey Weinstein has said the band was inspired to write ‘Ordinary Love’ after seeing early clips of the film, which will also open on Nov. 29.
U2 will release their first new music since 2009′s ‘No Line on the Horizon’ as part of Black Friday’s Record Store Day on Nov. 29.
